  • is it okay to just stop putting chemicals into your hair COMPLETELY without cutting ur hair at all and still letting it grow natural ?

  • @uniquelakeria

yup it is COMPLETELY OKAY...u can just let the growth come out as the relaxed hair cuts its self off slowly

  • Good job on your video I liked it very much!

  • Your hair is absolutely beautiful. I'm 16 months post relaxer and its the best thing Ive ever done. I feel free to do more things. The funny part is if I'm out w/ my boyfriend and it starts raining he'll say, "Stay here I'll get the car" and now I'll tell him "I'm not scared of he rain anymore I'll walk w/ you" lol

  • grrrrr, so jealous.

my mom PERMED my hair when it got too much to handle at one point in her life. now because of that, i struggle with it at neck length and NO FURTHER, i am going to renew my NATURAL hair this year!

  • this is absolutely gorgeous!

  • your hair history/story is beautiful!

  • Pretty! Are you flat twisting your hair, or just letting them hang woth rollers on the ends?

  • Really nice / inspiring video. I just found your site by chance. Did I see a ModSec uniform? I graduated in '86. Small world, but God's world!

  • Your hair is beautiful. I wish I could say a drop of relaxer never touched my scalp.

  • I LOVE LOVE this video.... well crafted and beautiful!

  • i want to get a relaxer SOOO badly but ive been natural all of my life and my mom wont let me (im 16) straightened, my hair is about halfway down my back and i want to wear it natural so i can wash it 'whenever i want' but it draws up and looks horrible :/

  • your hair is gorgeous

  • You're so lucky! Moms tend to just give up on thick hair(what I have) Its not even very thick in my opinion lol ;) I have 3c very springy hair. But she gave up on my curls and started relaxing my hair @ a very young age :( oh well! lol I've almost been natural for 2 years, but i need a cut to get rid of sum relaxed ends. Any suggestions on what to tell the stylist how to cut my hair? my hair is pretty long(right above bra strap) when its curly..a little past my shoulders(MAJOR SHRINKAGE!)

  • Beautiful ... thanks for sharing!

  • I love it! After almost 16 years of having chemicals put in my hair, I decided to go natural. After looking at different options on how to start my transition, I decided on a BC (that's BIG CHOP for those who don't know.) On April 12 of this year. Honestly, I have never felt more beautiful in my life! Though I'm keeping it low for now, I do plan to grow it out eventually. I can't wait so I can look to you for ideas ;-)

  • nice!

  • Your hair is so beautiful!! I'm actually thinking about transitioning from relaxed and straightened hair to growing out my natural hair.. Don't know where to begin though :(. Any tips?

  • @paninachina Some folks wear kinky twists to grow out their natural hair or style their own hair in cornrows and trim the relaxed ends off as they go.

  • @paninachina my natural hair is so ugly cant even move to somewhere with it am even ashamed of it when i was my hand cant even pass through it.

  • Lovley.

i really like the teased twist out

  • you have stay natural hair, stay natural

  • your hair is beautiful and your journey is inspiring....thanks for sharing

  • you mom was right for you to stay natural, which i stay natural

  • thank u for this, I am going to show my students at school!

  • u have beautiful hair! good 4 u

  • this was a wonderful video and i love the big twist out the most...how do you moisturize your hair though?

  • you are beautiful, masha'Allah (by the grace of God)

  • Your hair is super healthy and beautiful, I wish my Mom never relaxed my hair when I was 9 (30 now and natural since March 25 2010), my hair couldve NOT broken off so bad and thrived and grown to be like yours. I'm adding this video to my favorites. Keep up the good work! I'm an avid follower of yours xoxoxoxox

  • I LOVE YOUR HAIR!!! It is so beautiful. I also love the way that you celebrate your versatile natural hairstyles. Rock on, sister!!!

  • Thanks for sharing! Beautiful hair.

  • soo beautiful

  • I love your natural hair! It is so pretty, thick and long. Your video has inspired me. Right now I'm transitioning to natural hair after relaxing my hair for most of my life. It's been five months since I had my last relaxer. Right now my hair is short, thin and damaged. But hopefully after I grow out my relaxer and start taking care of my hair, I can grow my hair long like yours.

  • I love natural hair. It's so interesting to me. I wish more black women would wear their hair that way.

  • your hair is so long and i like when it was curly . nice vidoe

  • Wassup Ayanna, my name is Ayanna.

  • So what do you use to moisturize. I think I may have missed it. Thanks again.

  • Big Hair is da Bomb

  • I have a six year old daughter that I am teaching how to love and maintain her natural hair. I stopped getting relaxers so I can be an example as well. Thanks so much for posting this video :o) Gorgeous!!

  • Aw my moms from Trinidad =]

  • Your mother was a smart woman. I know sooooo many of us have relaxers due to our mothers, not by choice. I have been natural for 2 years, and it feel like a new, happy, liberated me.

  • Very beautiful hair

    Love your pictures

    ;-)

  • you're so gorgeous! I loved your video, though it didn't "inspire me" in my own natural hair process because my mom unfortunately relaxed my hair when I was in 5th grade (she didn't have the time for those "Color Purple" style hair combing scenes every morning...lol). Obviously, healhty hair starts from birth, so you're lucky your mom didn't use chemicals. I guess I'll never know how my natural hair's potential.

So I guess you inspired me to NEVER relax my daughter's hair if I ever have one.

  • Beautiful hair

  • Love your hair - it's BEAUTIFUL... Peace!!

  • i really wish my mom could have done that for me instead of relaxing my hair when i was a baby!!!!! but no worries im natural now and thes videos inspire me. i have been going natural since i was 19 off and on..due to discouragement but i am officially done with chemicals and and doing locks however, i find all natural hairstyles to be a symbol of pure beauty that i hope all black women in time will come to appreciate. Thanks for the Video!

  • Beautiful

  • Natural beautiful hair, thats what Im talking 'bout!!! Who sings this song?

  • I loved this song since i was like 14 ugh so beautiful:) this put a smile on my face

  • Gurl yu r so beautiful and don't ever let know one tell you different God bless

  • your hair is beautiful

  • your hair is amazing long

  • Thank you for your video. I think your hair represents what natural hair is all about. A Celebration. Everyone has a different wave/curl pattern and not everyone's hair grows at the same rate, but to dismiss her journey because you feel that your hair is kinkier and therefore more of a struggle is closed minded and elementary. Struggle is struggle. It's relative to your experience. I appreciate you sharing your experience. Namaste

  • Beautiful. Thanks for sharing

  • @SuperTruthseeker1 Contrary to your opinion, and assumptions - I struggle to maintain my hair ALL the time. My hair is kinky, coily and curly as shown in this video and has been refered to, believe it or not, as nappy - as you would have seen in my other videos. The point of the video is to encourage others to celebrate their own individual natural beauty and to answer several subscriber questions about my hair. It was meant to inspire. I'm sorry that you couldn't have understood that.

  • @SuperTruthseeker1 Her hair is not good n silky its just healthy. Black people have natural curl patterns and if hair is kept away from heat and perms than all hair can be like that. But yes her hair is very thick. She looks like she has 4 type hair maybe a little 3c it looks like her hair turned textures as she got older.

  • beautiful!! thanks for the styling descriptions too! <3

  • Amazing!!!!

  • you have inspired me very much...and gave me hope...though im just starting out in the "transitioning world" ...thank you...an the video is so cute ! if you could give me a few tips that would be great ! thnx again!!

    ~erra~

  • You have a very beutifull hair, and it's very long. :)

  • Who is the artist on your video? I need to put it on my ipod.

  • Who is the artist on your video? I need to put it on my ipod.

  • Great video!!! Very inspiring!! Is this D'Angelo singing? What song is this?

  • Ayanna very nice vid' I need a piece of advice I basically do not leave my hair out..for I dont like my face with short hair...therfore i have them mostly twist in braid..but each month I renew everything do you think it will reduce the growth? I mainly use shea, coconut butter and some oil to moisturize the scalp.. do you think it's enough?

  • @ndjekao I think that's fine. I wore mostly protective styles with my own hair - cornrows braids and twists. Now that mom isn't around I'm learning how to do my own hair so I'm new to taking care of it myself. Let your scalp breath a little - go easy on oiling so that you don't clog your pores.

  • Just beautiful!!!

  • Beautiful.

  • Wait! That was your first cut since birth? Wow! I have been conditioned to feel the need to cut my hair every 6 months or sooner, is your take on that the concept of cutting? Do you have problems with dry ends, knots, and tangles? Recommend any moisturizers? thanks again for sharing

  • @ItVeganAtGenesis My mom would do superficial trims - dustings they call it. Like cut 1/2 inch or so. I never cut more than like an inch at a time, so to me it was a big deal. I would say I cut betw. 3 - 3.5" that day. I have problems with dry ends when I don't moisturize enough and knots and tangles when I don't detangle enough when wearing my hair out. These days I just wash, detangle w/ conditioner, moisturize, twist and leave it alone.

  • @AyannaNaeela Thanks!

  • @AyannaNaeela Thanks

  • Twist outs are my favorite too. I can't wait for my hair to grow out. Thanks for the video. It's so awesomely inspiring!

  • Thanks for posting this video! Your hair is so great, and I LOVED it when you tried out some styles on it.

lol I also liked how you showed your first hair cut. I have not gotten on yet.

  • Very Nice!! video and hair styles I am more encourage to keep going natural black women perm their hair because its easier to style the hair, however it strips us of our natural hair abilities and hair health.I am glad to see you never put chemicals in your head which is bad for your scalp..been there done that now I am 2months into natural growth...Thanks for sharing..

  • THANKS for the inspiring video, your hair looks fuller natural,, GOD created us with natural hair for a reason,,, I wish I never permed my hair its bad news causes all kinds of problems...thanks I loved your afro hair style the best pushed back in a ponytail...I am on month 2 now...I cant wait for my three years to come...

  • I will never ever ever ever perm my hair, especially now even more after watching this video.

  • I love your curly fro ponytail! I can't wait til my hair gets that long!!!

  • Fantastic Video. Thanks!!

  • Wow you are so beautiful! I love your thick natural hair. You are a big inspiration for me. Thank you for making this video :)

  • Great video...

  • It all starts at the crib. Your mom did a very good thing; telling you that your hair is fine-no, BEAUTIFUL the way it is! YAY for mom! I love how your hair looks in the clip "when frizz happens". You kinda look like my hair twin! Your hair is beautiful, and the baby pics are adorable, thanks for making this video!

  • I LOVE THE VIDEO!! I'M GROWING MY NATURAL HAIR NOW AND SO EXCITED ABOUT HOW IT's GOING TO LOOK !!

  • see if black women keep their hair natural since birth and quit being white washed bitches they can have long natural beautiful hair like this and dont have to wake up with a scarf over there heads hiding that shirt nappy shit and powerless until going back to salon spending all child support money on that "hurr" maybe black women could go swimming and actually put there heads in the water if natural all along and look good like non bw do when they in the pool

  • thank you!!! thank you!!!!! thank you!!!!! I just did my bc and its so hard to stay natural without any repersentation of how beautiful natural hair can be. i've been struggling for a while if i wanted to stay natural or not but your video id the dose of medicine i needed to cure the self hatred i was struggling with. once again thank you from one natural beauty to another!!!

  • I LOVE your hair and your video!!!!!!!!!! Thx for posting.

  • You're so lucky. My mother decided she couldn't manage my hair as a baby so she cut it off. Then she had a relaxer put in when I was eight (I loved it then) but now I'm trying to repair all the damage that the relaxer has caused by growing my hair out.

    I'm soooo jealous :D
