you are making a mistake this song is from the FIFTIES not the SIXTIES yes girls still wore wide skirts with petticoats in the half of the 1960s but don't forget in the SIXTIES they had diferent dance styles that you could dance rock n roll not just jiving.

Rock Around the Clock was recorded in New York in 1954, released in 1955. Seems that the version you are dancing to is slowed down by 30%. This really waters down what Rock & Roll was about in the EARLY FIFTIES!
