@JennRighter She knows she's responsible. She can't do anything about it. It has taken over her mind, that's why people who go to these extremes end up being a skeleton because they don't know what they're doing to themselves, and the ones who do can't stop it.
@LadyRooster94 Yes, but the girl is the cause of the issues. No matter how sorrowful, sad and haunting what is happening is and no matter how much we all relate to and feel empathy for the girl, she needs to be held responsible for her own actions. Just like anyone with an addiction or disorder of any other type, it comes down to personal responsibility. Hold yourself accountable and fix what is wrong. The parents are innocent victims so it makes sense to direct sympathy there
i came up with a theory that involves the book of genesis (fig leaves) buddha (sitting under the bodhi fig tree) jesus (many sayings about figs) ross horne's book (new health revolution) and science (figs are ther most important source of food for fruit eating rainforest animals). i then experimented on the figs by eating mainly dried figs (same brand) for over 6 years now and found cycles which i related to the numbers in psgs 11/12 of the book of revelations. this theory has gone everywhere.

I went out with a guy that had an eating disorder similar to anorexia. He also had obsessive compulsive disorder. I ended up breaking up with him cause it was too hard to deal with.
The way she's explaining the emotional changes, and the mood swings...That's me exactly. I bet if I showed my boyfriend thins he would throw me into the nearest eating disorder clinic he could find.
When a person is taking in so few calories their higher brain functions slow down or are altered. So not only do they deal with the Anorexic brain but also the lack of brain function. This is why it does help to get IV intervention to get the calories in until they can start thinking clearly again, then deal with the Anorexia. Save the body first.
Poor darling, I wonder what triggered her disorder.
I went through about 2 years of severe bulimia starting in 2008. I ended up damaging acid producing valves in my stomach, so they were permently open rather then acting like a valve meaning I had free flowing stomach acid, and it would run into my throat when I bent over and was destroying my teeth badly. I know. TMI. Sorry, but people need to know what comes with these illnesses. I had a life changing psychologist and boyfriend save me.
My goal is to meet and help others with eating disorders and provide information to those studying the disorders. If you have anorexia, bulimia, any type of ednos, or are addicted to exercise...you are not alone. Sometimes having someone to relate to is a coping technique. If this catches anyone's interest check out my videos. I am not a trained professional, just another human being caught in the vicious cycle of an eating disorder.
I quickly began trying to eat more and become more healthy. I soon became a little to healthy and gained 15 to 20 of the pounds I had lost! I then one day was influenced to do a drug that would help me lose weight. I lost 15 lbs. I am now 23 years old and weigh 155 lbs and am only 5ft 4 inchs! So I would be considered FAT to a lot of people!! :( But when I see this video it makes me appreciate the weight that I am at!! Of course I will continue to try to lose the weight I need to.
@1988Consuelo You are not fat! Eat things with fiber. You will soon fill better. Just live your life and live it good. The world is at your feet you can do anything. But don't wast any more time on starving your self. Look at the world with new eyes. Take care sweet hart. Why do people judge on how people look
@58Clams, I was thinking exactly what you are; thinking. Since people with anorexia nervosa are constantly counting calories, grams of fat, etc... it is taking up their time and their life. It's good to look above and beyond that and focus on being productive in life and have things to look forward to; and setting goals. I know it's much easier said by someone such as myself who doesn't have an eating disorder, but I was a minor victim to it when I was a freshman in high school.
@1988Consuelo, There's more to it than just the number of pounds because some people can be heavier due to muscle. I heard of a woman who gained 12 lbs, but she slimmed out because muscle is heavier than fat. Some people are heavier because of the muscle that they have. According to the BMI calculator, I am considered overweight (6'5" and 225 lbs), but I don't consider myself too heavy, I consider myself very fit and physically able. Focus on staying physically active; avoid empty calories.
Jeez this is crazy to watch.... :( Do these people not go to church? I mean sure they have tried hospitals, but are they praying enough?? When I was in high school I lost like 35 lbs in a month in a half. I was soooo happy at all the compliments I received! But towards the end of my dieting and working out I began to get sick. I think it was malnutrition? Idk? I began throwing up... NOT because I wanted to, but because my body would not let me keep my food down!! I was so scared.
I just removed a few comments that I felt were personal attacks of the young woman in this video. I am not a fan of censoring discussion, but I am not going to allow uninformed vitriol like that on what is a very sensitive issue. Please try to be respectful. We are dealing with a human being here.
I was just discharged from being in hospital with Amy. She is an absolutely beautiful girl and it killed me to see the pain on her face with every meal that was set infront of her. Amy you're in my thoughts every single day, I am praying for you.
I feel super sad for God. To know that people abuse on what God has given to them. I don't think this is a mental illness it is the devil who has control over this girl and many others. YOU ALWAYS HEAR THAT THERE IS A SMALL LITTLE VOICE INSIDE SAYING DON'T EAT FATTY, OR OTHER THINGS. That is the devil speaking to them...I would let her go and just pray for her!
I also suffered severe Anorexia Nervosa for many years and my family was told that there was no hope- that I was too severe, had been ill for too long, that all avenues had been exhausted and that I WOULD die.
I want Amy and her family to know that there IS hope. I am recovered and expecting my first child in October. I survived against the odds and Amy can too.
Please, if Amy's family reads this, contact me. I will offer any advice/support I can.
hm idk people usually feel sorry for families etc, but imo reasons come mainly from family. the frustration that sufferer feels must be unbearable, plain torture, not being able to communicate. and yeah wonder y shes not covered up
@cookie123d1 really not helpful. especially because her shoulders are all bone... really i think if her shoulders did look at all wide it's because the rest of her body is so emaciated.
@behindmymasquerade ya but you could still see that her body type is wide shoulders with narrow hips, thats just her bone structure, and her extreme thiness just makes it more obvious lol
i wonder if the producers made her wear tank tops to show how thin she is. she would be freezing and a lot of anorexics cover up because they are shameful
I was in treatment with her in Australia back many years ago. Devastating to see things have gotten this dire:( Love to Amy and her beautiful fam. This disease ruins families. I hate it so much!!
@Oct195 Thanks I'm hanging in there I guess:) I think its great you posted this to highlight the devastating impact this illness has on every aspect of not only the sufferers life, but on the whole family. It so important that society realise that an ED is not simply a 'diet gone too far' , nor is it attention seeking behaviour.
OMG! her parents sud get an award for tolerating all those tantrums!...but poor girl cant help it i guess. i never really understood this illness and why a person cant just eat..i mean for me its the easiest thing to do !..but unless someone goes through this illness themselves it hard to understand...my sympathies.
@shyleshful My sister died from anorexia 4 years ago. Days before she died, she told me about all the stuff we'll do together when she'll recover..she didn't want to die. When I see people saying ignorant shit like "It's easy to eat! why don't they eat", it f-cking upsets me! What most people don't seem to get is that, it is a MENTAL illness! Basically, if you want to simplifies it vulgarly: they are mental! It's like asking a schizophrenic person to "stop hearing voices!", it just won't work.
I cant believe how much I relate to this girl in behaviour. I am only 9 pounds underweight but have never wanted to look emancipated nor do I plan on losing more weight. Its a bit of a relief though that she behaves the same as me.
Sorry folks, i removed the comments from that person. I posted the video to highlight the issues surrounding eating disorders, not for "pro-ana" comments such as that.
@carniekatie - You have to let someone in and have them instill a new sense of self. It's something like a spiritual transfusion. It's done on the deepest level possible - with a loving therapist that you trust. Essentially they show you/give you a new angle of yourself that you never realized existed before. It's brought out by their empathy and compassion towards you. It has to be absolutely real and from the heart for it to work. It happened to me. Had both bulimia and anorexia.
@adamatova I do not think this approach works for everyone. Intelligence breeds disillusionment. Some people are too smart and can't be healed this way. Even the notion that a new sense of self can be instilled by another is skewed... we don't create it ourselves? Social reality over subjectivity? I don't think some can ever get over anorexia, after a lifetime of trying and failing I've given up.
@carniekatie - the key is that it's done subconsciously - without consciousness that it's actually happening or else like you say, there will most definitely be defense mechanisms put into place to protect the anorexic/bulimic within.
@JennRighter She knows she's responsible. She can't do anything about it. It has taken over her mind, that's why people who go to these extremes end up being a skeleton because they don't know what they're doing to themselves, and the ones who do can't stop it.
