When I first learned this one, we were told that in fact, it was supposed to be to do with household "officers" - in fact, a servants' dance, although it wouldn't really be servants doing it.. And yes, when I learned it we sort of jumped sideways rather tna walking. But hey, they're having fun.

the correct title is : bransle de l'Official (ancient ecclesiastical court, or judge of this court).
