@KenEbacher gojis are very tough plants, I do believe that they probably will grow in afghanistan, as long as the climate is not to extreme, like desert or mountanious and cold and snowy
@rubyprojects im not sure how far north alberta is, but if you get weather colder than negative 15 degrees fahrenheit frequently, they probably wont survive. Try it out though.
Goji will grow pretty much anywhere. I grow huge plants that put off tons of berries in Cold Idaho. They thrive.
Once you start getting berries, select your best plants, and take cuttings in the early spring. Cut the tender shoots at 8 inches, soak in water, then powdered rooting hormone, then stick them in 1/2 peat moss, 1/2 sand. Put in shady, cool spot til they root. Tug on them a little to see if they rooted. Then harden off and grow. Check out my Goji video.
@PineGroveBird yep thats perfectly fine. Wait about a week or two and you should have 7 or 10 plants. Most likely not all of them will sprout so you might end up with maybe 4 or 5, but thats fine
Hello, Just wondering if your Goji Berry plant survived the winter. I hope so :-)
I have 6 that I started in my Aerogarden and after about 8 weeks they got about 18 inches tall and had to take them out and plant them in Soil. I'm hoping mine get really large outside!!
@myCreativeDifference Yes my plant did survuve the winter, and right now it is starting to bud. Sorry i havent documented its progress with a video in such a long time, ive just been going through a lot of stuff, but hopefully ill be able to make one soon. Thanks for watching and good luck with your plants.
I planted my first pot 3 days ago using the same method -- soaking berries in water and planting the seeds. Goji plants are supposedly one of the strongest in the world. They can survive serious drouts as well as extreme cold weather.
Hello I have 7 goji plants with more than 3 years of life, I have indoor, open the window to that of air. My doubt is how to gain results if not from the bees to bring pollen? how to do without help from the bees? thanks
@thewavedm Gojis are very hardy, so any soil will do really, but for starting them from seed you definitely dont want the soil to be very sandy, just a nice dark loam with some compost would be perfect.
Thanks for the vid. I was wondering if they could be started like this! I am going to do this, but also see if I can find some already started plants in the Spring since they don't fruit till the second year. Also, I almost bought some for a friend, but found out she is on Coumadin and they do NOT mix. Subbing.
dude, I'm a going to try this... I might try to plant a few dozen of these plants/bushes on my property... they can grow in the wild in maryland. They supposedly can grow up in northern canada (in super cold regions) all the way down to the desert and the equator. They really are adaptogenic...
@ratiocinativeness absolutely, they can endure very harsh conditions. Theyre really amazing plants. Good luck with growing them. If you have any questions, just message me, id be glad to help out.
@DHARDYBOY They can benefit you in many ways. Goji berries have such an amazing nutrient content, they contain the perfect amount for human health, of amino acids. That supplies you with all the protein you need, and they are much easier on your body during digestion than meat. They are extremely high in antioxidants, which protect your body from free-radicals. Free-radicals are basically chemicals that speed up the aging process. Goji berries help to stop this and increase longevity.
In short, Goji berries contain many nutrients, in extremely good proportions, that are perfect for maintaining human health. They slow the aging process, strengthen you immune system and keep you feeling healthy and well. Its not enough to just buy a bag, eat a handful after every meal, and still eat other junk though. They don't cancel out any of the junk food you eat. You should replace something unnecessary, with Goji berries, something like meat.
@avaliduser I started the bigger one indoors, only because it was still getting pretty cold at night. I think i planted it some time in late march or early April, and the nights were still a little frosty, so i planted that one indoors, in a little pot, right on my window sill, but i moved it outside once it started to get a little warmer. The smaller one however, i planted only about a little more than a month ago in may, the nights were warmer so i planted in the pot and started it outside.
@ruderevival if youre planning to plant some now, i would suggest planting them in a medium sized pot outside. Good luck! if you have any more questions just leave a comment or send me a message.
What do they taste like? Can they grow in an environment without much sun?

Hey i was just wondering what a good soil for seedlings would be. Something with little nutrients? not so potent? What's Ideal?
