• It was indeed Gary Burghoff who was late, not CNR. There was another time when CNR was late because he was getting his toupee sewn on and Mark Goodson had to fill in for one round.

  • @epaddon No Kidding? I had heard Gary Burghoff was Notorious for being late for tapings. I saw a M*A*S*H* 'behind the scenes' show a few years ago, where they interviewed the cast members... And the only thing they would say about Radar was that he was ALWAYS late & made VERY thin excuses! He was not even on the show himself. (Maybe he was LATE!)

  • Leslie Nelson looks like Steve Martin!

  • It was very nice of Johnny Olson to fill in for Charles. I was wondering if you had the full episode. I'd love to see it in it's entirety.

  • Charles Nelson Reily forgts to put his clock back one hour LOL

    Charles Nelson Reilly R.I.P

    Brett Somers R.I.P

    Leslie Neilson R.I.P

  • I think Charles Nelson Reilly forgot to change his clock xP

  • @narnia0100 I thought it was Gary Burghoff(IiRC, Charles was directing a play at the time).

  • Leslie Nielsen R.I.P.

  • gene rayburn really needed a haircut

  • I think if Match Game were to be brought back, they should have some of the regulars that are still alive, like Richard Dawson, or Fannie Flagg, or Bob Barker, and a replica of the original set with some modern technology added to the set.

  • @Kjr0se I couldn't agree more.I say cut Let's Make A Deal down to a half an hour & bring back the Match Game with a tribute to the original with modern technology, like you said.Richard Dawson has been retired for some time now,so I doubt you'd drag him out of it,and I don't know if Bob Barker would be up for being a regular panelist since he's also retired.

  • LOVE This episode. RIP Leslie Nielsen 1926-2010. :-(

  • Sad to see the top half all dead now. RIP Leslie, Brett, and Johnny.

  • Surely this is a sad day.

    (And don't call me Shirleyj!)

    RIP, Leslie.

  • Leslie neilson Died Yesterday and he will be missed

  • Rest well, Leslie. 1926-2010

  • RIP Leslie...

  • would love to see another match game...on tv now

  • @DartsRme312 That would be great. Who would be the panelists?

  • @123spiker123 that's what i mean...who could have the personality to do it

  • This was back when Leslie Nielsen was still the dramatic stone-faced actor rather than as the zany comedic actor after "Airplane".

Nice to see Johnny O in action.

  • @artytoons "I am serious. AND DON'T CALL ME SHIRLEY!!!!!!!!"

  • They should have let Johnny do the entire show as a panelist!!

  • Johnny Olson was an underatted talent. I was sad when he passed away. Bob Barker made the announcement and was very fitting. I always felt Barker's Beauties never liked it, when Johnny took part in showcase showdown sketches (looking at their reactions). That's why I never felt for them, when they filed lawsuits against Barker. RIP Johnny

  • @14DaveHunter Even though Barker was wrong?

  • @fatmanfiftythousand

Barker was wrong, but I couldn't feel for them. They didn't act like they liked Johnny Olson, but I thought he was funny. Just my own opinion.

  • Wow, Leslie is rocking the 70's thread ... hot!

Always a treat to hear AND see Johnny O.

  • Cool seeing Johnny Olson on the panel!

  • that's the reason for the explanation

  • That was also Charles Nelson Reillys seat as well!

  • @steadfast1984 Could be because he was 65 at the time. But for his age, I think he looked quite well. He pretty much always looked the same up until his death in 1985 when he was 75.

  • im talking about Leslie Nealson. hes still alive and quite well

  • Reminds me of Shadoe Stevens on Hollywood Squares in the 80's.

  • That's a funky 70s shirt Leslie is wearing!

  • I plan on posting the whole episode this week!

  • does anyone have this full episode ;-) ? thankss!

  • Are you serious? Did you not even listen to what he was saying! He said "ME:JOHNNY OLSON!" I don't even think Rod Roddy was announcing yet.

  • Ya I totally fuck-up! HAHA Sorry youtube community, pease forgive me!

  • It's OK. WE forgive you. Well, I do, anyway! =)

  • Not in 1975. Rod Roddy didn't start announcing till Soap premiered in 1977, and didn't have his 1st game show job till the premiere of Whew! in 1979.

  • LOL Check out Leslie Neilsons' shirt.........70's rule!!!

  • This is on DVD? Where? Where?!! I want a copy!!

  • I think so. I haven't watched it in a while. I got it last year and only seen it once since I got it...I'll check again and let you know...

  • I have this show on DVD. Such a great show. I miss it very much.

  • Since you probably know, was he on the whole episode?

  • You can thank the spammers...comments have been disabled.

  • @tvfavorites they're back

  • ever watched, "Blankety Blanks" from Australia?! The set looks almost a twin of the American except for the title, call "Match Game".

  • Very Funny, but check out the Botsicle5439 Match Game Most Funny Video Collection here on Youtube!! Show me a download for this PLEASE!!

  • my eyes, that PLAID SUIT!!

  • Can you show me where to download this? Please.

  • Johnny Olsen's apperance is due to someone forgetting Daylight Savings

  • Gene looks stunning in that Prince Valient cut, eh?

Ya know, my dad is still wearing his that way. It's a classic.

  • I always thought Robert Klein resembled Gene. In looks and humor. He should have done the revival in 1990, not Ross Schafer.

  • Leslie Neilsen pre-Airplane!

  • And pre-QUADWHAMMY on Game Show Marathon

  • This wasn't the only time Charles was late, of course; I saw an ep where Martin Balsam came in, filled one blank (matching the contestant!) and left when Charles finally arrived. He was perhaps the only MG celeb with a perfect match record (one-for-one!)

  • No, it was Gary Burghoff who was running late because he forget to move his clock an hour forward. Charles was still off doing his Broadway show.

  • Nah, Burghoff was late because he was still doing M*A*S*H. They were probably taping an episode that day.

  • Gene EXPLAINS why Gary Burghoff was late.

  • Does Johnny get a chance to play?

  • He plays the entire episode.

  • @movienotes In the immortal words of Phil Hartman as Ed McMahon: You arer correct, sir!

  • Mark Goodson came in for CNR one time.

  • Johnny Olsen had a voice made for television...his voice is perfect for a game show announcer..

  • Good ol' Johnny Olsen! I would sure love to see this ENTIRE show.

  • What happened to Charles Nelson Rylee?

  • he was on Broadway.

  • Announcer Johnny Olson on the Match Game panel, over a decade later Hollywood Squares 1980's (with John Davidson hosting) would have announcer Shadoe Stevens as a Hollywood Square!

  • Johnny Olsen was the best announcer CBS ever had. Rod Roddy is a very close second.

  • more Johnny, please!

  • Gene, about Leslie: "He did your show!"

Is this Gene referring to Richard's short-lived Masquerade Party from 1974?

  • Jonny Olsen was the BEST!!!!

  • This was before Shadow on the 80's Squares

  • Johnny O actually sat on the panel? Must have been classic for him.
