  • Holy Crap! This is amazing!

  • Superb.TY fopstra for posting.

  • i love the repeated phrase at 3:04 in the right hand, when it finalises at 3:09 and the bass enters in again, it's just amazing!!!! i replayed that bit for ages haha

  • They don't need this judgment: (....) is best. All of them was BEST. Tatum, Powell, Monk, Garner. Evans, Tristano, Petrucianni etc...

  • God almighty...

  • some of the best jazz footage ive ever seen

  • wait is that oscar singing or humming when he is playing?

  • @MegaMembrane yep, he'd often hum along to his improvisations, voicing out what he was hearing in his head as he played. It's really noticeable on many of his studio albums, and a number of other jazz pianists did the same.

  • @elchet Some other grunt/scat-along pianists include Bobby Timmons, Erroll Garner, and Eddie Higgins just to name a few. All three great pianists in their own rights.

  • smoothest entrance by bass and drums i've ever heard!!! holy poop!!!

  • Oscar at his ivory-tickling best! A pianist without peer!!!

  • He's playing 'Ill Wind'.

  • He's playing a "Petrov" piano.

Usually your average peice if s***

  • Petrof pianos are great and he's getting a damn good sound out of that piano...

  • thats because he's Oscar Peterson!!

  • Bella fopstra! Grazie tante per i video...

  • If you want to remember Oscar Peterson, this is the one to watch.

    Complete mastery of the piano.

  • Oscar Is The Giant!!!!

  • i agree, oscar did record ill wind on a live session.

  • The Trio did record ILL WIND on one of Oscar's live sessions at the London House in Chicago.

  • Its a really rare video as Oscar did not record Ill Wind on any of his records. A real scoop! well done!

  • The young Oscar here, despite sometimes excessive flash and arpeggio, is irrepressably inventive -- without equal.

  • Well, if its an Art Tatum cover, that's what you'd expect.

  • Great to see this! The song is called "Ill Wind". Oscar played it regularly as a tribute to Art Tatum.

    Thanks a lot!
