I assume you were on a 130? Were you in the C-5 at all? I leave in a month with this job reserved, and I like all the planes I could be on, but the 130 seems like it would be an uncomfortable ride..small and loud. How did you like spending your time on it?
@thebronze --- Roger that my friend. Can't beat it! I wouldn't have wanted to do anything else. It was worth every minute and I can't help but miss it from time to time.
How is the job itself? Im very interested to do this job but i dont kno what it takes. And how was Sere skool cuz thats honestly the only thing im worried about.

The video that started it all. Got me hooked the first time I saw it. Watch it the night before I left for basic, the day I graduated basic loadmaster school at Lackland. Then today, the day I passed my check ride and became a fully qualified C-17 Globemaster III Loadmaster!!!!!.
I submitted my cross training package a month ago to be a loadmaster and hoping that I actually get it. This was the job that I wanted to get back in 06, but my recruiter told me that i should go into open general and got a medical job, which I hate medical. I am going to be so excited if my package gets approved. This has been my dream job since i was in high school.
Thanks to all who've commented on this video ..... makes me feel great to hear all the positive responses. I'm now trying to bust into the civilian world with a small business. Please check it out at --> urban pond and garden supplies .com (one word) <-- products are added all the time and could I ship all over the country ..... plus I could use a little veteran friendly patronage.
Thanks folks and I hope you continue to enjoy the video. !!!!
Just graduated BLM at Lackland AFB yesterday. This video is what actually made me decide to be a A2. I got assigned C-17's out of Charleston AFB with the 437TH Airlift wing.
Supposed to be signing my Hard copy next week for 1A231 (loadmaster.) Excited. Ready to get to travel the world. Also heard that flight crew have the best parties ;).
I recognized me in the video, in the back of the deuce and a half. I think I know who did this video and good job. I saw that someone is leaving in April to go to Lackland. I will see you there since I teach at the Loadmaster basic school, but I am leaving in mid June so I might miss you. Depends on if you get wash backed in basic training. Good luck.
My suggestion would be not to watch it again than. Also...... shoot what did I forget ....... oh, just remembered...... you're slightly slow in the brain and my dog just called you a douche. I didn't even now he could talk but your post must have inspired him. So thanks I guess. You're stupidity taught my dog a word. It was douche...... yup your definitely a douche.
How old (more likely young) are you? Don't be afraid to answer.
@duffmanduffman45 It was a sarcastic comment^^ i understand its hard to project on youtube but bare with me :) and why would i watch this whole video if i didn't aspire to become a loadmastah!
@TheGnomelandSecurity ........ alright then, fair enough. I get a lot of emails regarding this vid from ridiculous hippies that are not always kind... and usually make no sense.
Anywho, best of luck in finding the job you want. If that happens to be a load, even better.
i just got my call. i leave april 5 for basic training. then off to tech school to become a loadmaster. i got a 94 on my asvab but this is the job ive always wanted... i am so excited to go
Did you get a guarantee on that job?I heard thats rare. I think I'm going to shoot for the exact same thing. Did you do anything special? have any tips? Thanks!
@skadooshcovers you can choose the jobs u want but there is no guarantee that you will get that job, if there is no spot open in the job u want they offer u different jobs that do have spots open
@skadooshcovers they tell you to put down at least 3, i picked 5 and somehow got my #1 choice my recruiter couldnt believe it. if i were you i would put at least 5 that u want that way you wont get stuck with something you hate
Best job I ever had in my 28 years. Loved it. Traveled the world, did a lot of good stuff, did a lot of fun stuff. Worked hard as hell sometimes, make no mistake, and I've done the "rifle, ruck and paddy mud" gig, as well as the "Staff Officer at the Pentagon" gig and a whole lot in-between. But Herk Loadmaster was, IMHO, the best.
Loadsmashers life is a "loadswallowers" life! ....Loadmasters do it in the rear with straps and chains....I've heard so many loadmaster jokes that I bust out laughing everytime I think of them.
Husband is deployed again to Balad, hes a loadmaster as well and he comes home in 16 days. I was missing him and found this video. Made me miss him and cry but it made me proud to be his wife. Thank you.
