  • wow incomprehensible!

  • This. This is what EPIC WIN looks like when slathered with awesome sauce and served with a side of kickass.

  • why is the tourbillon so good? Does it keep time better than just the regular wind up types or something?

  • @FishBowl911 A tourbillon is used to counter the effects of gravity on the more delicate parts of a mechanical watch. A gyrotourbillon takes it a step further and ensures a stable rate in all positions, whether it is worn or set on a table for example.

  • @FishBowl911 its a mechanism thats built into mechanical watches to counteract the effects of gravity on the accuracy of the watch.

  • this is art. Presice and perfect art with a purpose and a soul. my tourbillon fascinates me and its just a simple 1 minute flying tourbillon...this is totally perfect and genius.

  • what happen if the watch falls to the ground? will the tour-billion broke/shatters?

  • There is absolutely nothing "punk" about this. This is simply engineering so precise it verges on art.

  • @TheB0P You must look up Steam Punk then, this is by definition its foundation. Cheers.

  • I like that the retail price is $290,000 but sells for $405,000 now.

  • dumb toy show stuff

  • Beautiful rotations, excellent piece.

  • ."Jaeger - LeCoultre Gyrotourbillon - Two Axis Tourbillon - Equation of Time ".

  • who knows the name of this model ?

  • pretty

  • As this watch is incredibly beautiful in all aspects i must say that the turbillon mechanism is somewhat ineffectiveness, gravity still has effect over the spring. I see this mechanism as pure design ingenuity but only that. Really great mechanisms I only saw at jappanese watches, mechs such as kinetic and solar ar the next step in modern watches.

  • The ingenuity of the people who made this watch never ceases to amaze me. It makes the movement in my Sub seem very ordinary.

  • bet that is hard to make, id never have the patience

  • Watch Porn

  • @Naddycat Thats what my girlfriend calls it too!

  • World's most expensive watches with 2 gyrotourbillons

    youtube.com/watch?v=TD-iaMpqOZY

  • Watching this video nearly tops the first time I made love.

  • The music is nearly as perfect as the piece of art it accompanies.

  • i would stare at my watch all day

  • How much is this watches? This is like having the Parallel Universe on your wrist, I want one of this...D

  • @SpaceTrooper50 Seriously, this watch is probably in the $300,000 ballpark. I wouldn't be surprised if the asking price is $600,000.

  • @ethorii Thanks, I was surprise how much this thing cost. Not on my budget and probably never will be. With that price you can buy a Cessna with parachute and fly around the valley.

  • engineering marvel

  • I knew the guy who invented this and everyone thought it was a mad idea - and it is because the cage has too much inertia. This means the balance has to be even smaller than those in a normal tourbillon wristwatch, these are already too small to keep effective time. It's the triumph of style over substance.

  • Comment removed

  • @RollaArtis These are certainly not about timekeeping. I expect the average buyer barely understands what they are "paying" for. When you have that much money, I doubt it feels like you're paying anything. The purchase would have zero effect on the buyer's lifestyle or future. And most likely it wouldn't be money that could be connected to any specific work performed. Just scooped up from the pipeline spilling money on the floor from the stock dividends, trust fund, etc.

  • @ethorii Yes - It's the triumph of style over substance. And the triumph of the Swiss marketing machine.

  • not made by humans, impossible!

  • A masterpiece to say the least!!

  • i just could watch..and watch..and time..even days would pass..i just would watch at that because it's so relaxing..

this art of technic and harmony, just amazing!

  • You people think this is Cool you should see the things that go on inside your own bodies, what really goes on inside of a single cell, makes this look like childs play.

  • @RespectMyHate true

  • Go on eBay and type: 270581434281

    in the search field.

    There's one for sale at 319k !!!!

  • ahdas beste wäre heute oder überhaupt wenn ich jemand netten zum chattn finden würde!

  • i own the stuhrling imperial tourbillon but its pale compared to this AMAZING watch

  • The sort of person who can build a replica of this could easily be making his own brand of watches. :)

  • @darrensurrey Its not that hard to make a replica, since that doesnt actually need the tourbillion to WORK, just to look the same.

  • @KenNorth310 Haha true. But then the owner of said replica wouldn't be able to enjoy watching it move. On the plus side, he'd save hours of his time not staring at something as it spins around. :o)

  • Oh, sorry... I meant 'how to wear an apartment' on your wrist... :P

  • How to 'wear a car' on your wrist.... :)

  • they are obviusly trying to compete with groubel forsey. but i still prefer GB watches

  • Looks a little bit more complicated then my wooden big wheel clock that i'm building

  • oooOOO

  • Beautiful movement

  • @ stimsWonderland: Because there are only a few watchmakers in the world who are capable of making such handcrafted movement. In order to make a tourbillon you need (apart from skills!) special tools and very light and enduring metals..

  • Beautiful!!!!

  • why are these so expensive

  • in agreement with flash100m they require a ridiculous amount of skill and a very steady hand to assemble and fine tune they are made of 679 very small intricately intertwining pieces that have to work together seamlessly the slightest misplacement and the whole piece would stop and may even break no machine in existence has the capacity to put it together. Watch a vid on how they assemble a standard tourbillon then imagine doing that in in 3d kinda like the difference between a jigsaw puzzle

  • and a 3D puzzle, if you've ever tried one, but times a thousand. And then there's the fact that they limited production to a mere 75 in five years.

Sorry bout the rambling but this is like the watch of my dreams.

  • because they are hand crafted

  • what's the song

  • @patissere I am sure the audio is from one of the Myst games--probably Riven, at a guess. It's been too long to guess for sure.

This is the most gorgoeus watch I've ever seen. Too bad it would set me back both a summer and winter home to buy one.

  • @Demmrir thanks

  • Excellent

  • we just got one of these new for sale look for it on google under "gyrotourbillon sokobe" It's a very rare watch because they only made 75 and no more are left. The best part of the watch is from the back though! Can't find any videos of the back of the watch :(

  • I think I might discover warp speed just by looking at this piece of art....

I want to make that life sized and travel back in time!!!

  • è bellissimo

  • What is the name of the song?

  • It's so beautiful.... I can't get over it. To own one must be a dream~

The song is so beautiful too. I wish I knew who composed it.

  • Wicked!

  • The video is very good. It really brings out the beauty and "magic" of the "tourbillon".

Could anyone give me information of where to look for explanations on it's mechanism. I mean specialized books or websites (not wikipedia :)

    Thanks

  • hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

    NICE WATCH!

  • Imagine the repair costs if something went wrong with that watch.....You'd have to take out another mortgage.

  • Most people have have the extra $280,000 to spend on the gyrotourbillon i dont think have to worry about repair costs. But you are right, it has to be unreal how much it would cost.

Its like owning a McLaren F1, every 6,000 mile checkup is $43,484 USD. The more you spend...well..the more you spend.

  • yeah your right..to someone who has billions to throw around...those figures are to them, what we throw around as a hundred or 200 dollars..

  • "to someone who has billions to throw around...those figures are to them, what we throw around as a hundred or 200 dollars.. "

Not even that, if you're talking about Billions. For someone with a net worth of say, $2.8 billion, $280,000 is a MILLIONTH of that...it would be like someone with a net worth of $100,000 spending a tenth of a penny.

  • that is truly insane lol

  • Actually, I did that wrong...it would be like someone with a net worth of $100,000 spending $.10 (dramatic difference, I know....it's a factor of 100!)

  • Not to forget however, $280k is the "suggested" price, if you can use that term on something like this. The few times I have seen stores able to sell this one, the price has been, safe to say, on a whole another level.

  • Looks like art, like a Da Vinci masterpiece. Very nice..although I have read that this device has no longer significant meaning nowadays, it still looks great..I love all those movements in a watch..cool video.

  • And how long before a Chinese version?

  • I'd love to have one of theese... I could just sit for hours and stare at it.

  • yea just imagine if there was a scuff on it.. u wont be sleeping for days

  • haha

  • Is that the same thing they use to travel to space in the movie "Contact"?

  • no, this was a movie, this is a tourbilloun that moves for equilibrate descompensations in a mechanic watch

  • That's so steampunk it doesn't even know it's steampunk

  • Wow... it's the king of steampunk handing down authority about what else is steampunk

  • It's Grand Emperor of Steampunk to you! Don't mess up again. You big scary E-bully LoL

  • @sjp440

This watch isn't steampunk...... steampunk is THIS WATCH!

  • @sjp440 steampunk? this timepiece deserves a better title than that.

  • @ElginPocketwatch I tend to disrespect and degrade the things I love. It's a method that has served me well over the years.

  • I would say the same to anyone who takes the time to comment on things which obviously don't matter to them...

  • Had one. Traded it for a Casio.

  • Can't you guys take a joke? Jeesh.

  • where is that franck muller video???

  • My respects to the designer!

  • Who is the music of?

  • Nice! Pretty machine!! Magic!!!

  • Nice! Pretty machine!! Magic!!!

  • Magic

  • I saw this watch when it was a prototype few years ago. Its very amazing.

  • That is some serious movement! How pretty!

  • Amazing! I love to wacth things spin.

  • do you know the triaxial tourbillon by swiss watchmaker franck muller? there is a small clip of it on youtube, but not as well filmed as this one. If you see this unique gyrotourbillon, it makes you wonder why it doesn't rotate on the third axis, since it is possible as shown by franck muller? if i pay $300K + for a watch, i'd want that tourbillon to rotate on 3 axes....:-(

  • i think you are mistaken about third angle, it is easy to see that any point/location could be reached by combination of the two angles. (i.e. three dimensional space is defined by radius, which is fixed in our case and two angles.)

  • you are right, the introdruction of a third axis will not improve the precision of the watch, but it represents an even higher level of complexity and a bigger challenge for the watch maker. i would have loved to see that one executed by jlc instead of settling for the less sophisticated 2-axes tourbillon...

  • how much ?

  • fascinating...

  • i feel queasy!..............

  • do any of you seriously expect to be taken seriously when you type this way?

  • & b4 u comment on my grammatical errors, dont bother iam aware they r there & i dont care as this supposed 2 b 4 fun rather & enjoyment i dont need ppl like u correcting me thanks! & i think most will agree wiv me there ;-)

  • I apologize for both the irrelevance of my comments as well as the rude manner in which they came off. It was not my main intent to insult FANDANGOO8, but rather point out that it was his grammar which made his points unclear. I am still sorry I posted my comments for they could have been done without.

  • 127ajr you are a example of what a good & reputable youtuber should be like! all of us could learn from you.

  • isn't forum for technical debate most call tourbillion a movement as form the most integral part same as automatic watch or kinetic are not referred to a balance wheels operated or capcitor storage unit watches, sorry if my English is not to you standard but this how most people write on the internet, so if you have any decency you will go back on that forum and correct yourself rather than just being rude, take care

  • fandangoo8 be clearer wiv you english future so to avoid confusion, and avoid unwarrated attacks from some individuals that havent done there research b4 commenting on such debates. END OF DEBATE *****CLOSED ******

  • Chinese maker as featured in clockmagazine. com until 03-06 was branding watches as tourbillion then merged with minorva another chinese maker of tourbillion and started rebranding its watches to minorva also, so fandango u r correct there.

  • This is one of the better videos that I have seen showing the complex motion of the tourbillon. I agree there seems to be so many watches on ebay that are simply exposed balance that claim to be tourbillon. So, I find it no surprise that someone decided to brand a watch with that name. I personally would be too embarrassed to do that. It simply preys on the uneducated.

  • Also, "tourbillon" is not a movement its a type of escapement.

  • why don't you two get a room?

Oh, by the way, tourbillon is not a 'brand'

  • tourbillon is brand of watch as well as movement so technically there is no such thing as fake or replica tourbillon useless it imitates the branding of the tourbillon on it casing, so dogx15 research b4 commenting as your embarrassing yourself my friend.

  • I am aware that there is a brand of watch named "Tourbillon". Is that what you mean by "tourbillon is brand of watch"? I never had that in mind. Can you name the "brand" of the watch you mention.

  • Mabey you dont notice but you now seem to agree with me! Re-read your last two comments.

In my years as a watchmaker I have never heard of "tourbillon is brand of watch". Mabey thats how watch fans talk, those who admire and collect watches but who have never spent a second on the bench.

  • FANDANGOO8,

You are simply a foolish and illiterate idiot who cannot form grammatically correct sentences. "Tourbillon" is not a watch company, but rather a watch retailer, which implies that "Tourbillon" is not a brand and, therefore, cannot be "replicated" or "faked". A watch either uses tourbillon as an escapement or does not; there is no replication involved except that of the original inventor in manufacturing a tourbillon-utilizing timepiece. So please, just stop being stupid.

  • that what he said you clearly dont know how 2 read, and you call him the idiot lol.

  • "that what he said", yeah, I'm the idiot. No, in fact he stated that "tourbillon is brand of watch as well as movement", neither of which are true. I am not disagreeing with his statement that it cannot be replicated, merely the reasons he stated for this impossibility. Also, I am criticizing his grammar (as well as yours, although not as much) because he clearly cannot form sentences with proper English conventions and therefore makes his posts unintelligible lol. :)

  • pure art , good as any van gough painting or mozart symphony, give it few years chinease will copy it like they did with flying tourbillion

  • A tourbillon WAS designed to counteract the effects of gravity... in a time when hairsprings were of lower quality, and watches sat upright in a vest pocket. These days, they're not really necessary, but they're a prestige complicastion because they're beautiful asnd difficult to produce. There are no "replica" tourbillons - all sold as such simply show the balance wheel, called an "open heart" watch. This is truly incredible watchmaking at its best.

  • i think yoUr wrong as if yoU type tourbillon into youtube you see a video of a replica flying tourbillion which can be brought on ebay, and i have confirmed this, this replica clearly is not just a balance wheel, please do your reasearch before you come out with such definitive responses

  • You have missread JonasClark. He meant "replica turbillon" not "replica watch with turbillon" (which is what you seem to mean). The watch you talk about is a replica but the turbillon is NOT. Dont confuse "turbillon" with the watch as a whole. Please dont missread statments before you come out with such definitive responses.

  • I am fully aware that a turbillon is brand of watch, however and the general census is that flying turbillon is also referred to as movement as stated in original comment & its clear that JonasClark also refers to this as he states replicas only have balance wheels. So Please don't misread statements before you come out with such definitive replies and brush up on your research in this field b4 comment my friend as clearly you are still lay man in this subject!

  • JonasClark seems to be saying that there are some sellers who try to sell watches claiming that they are turbillon when, in fact, there just exposed balance. I, as a watchmaker myself, still believe you have missread JC. Either that, or me, and you, are not being clear in our writing.

  • 1) My understanding is JC is saying there are no such things as tourbillion ie the movemnt in a fake watches which is undestandable as it such complicted & differcult mechanism to make, & that those replica watch that calim they turbillion only "simply show the balance wheel, called an "open heart" watch".Your stating he said there no such thing as fake tourbillion ie the brand, its either real or not, but to me this such obvious statment it did not need mentioning

  • 2) its like saying this the real thing that aint real thing, to add to this the comment his statement "There are no "replica" tourbillons - all sold as such simply show the balance wheel, called an "open heart" watch" would be completly out of context, and that statement alone is preaty self explaintory. i hope i have cleared my standpoint, but his statemnt seems pretty clear to me. & i have shown tourbillion movenment & brand can be succefully replicated, contradicting what he stated, ;-)

  • Thanks. Your #2 comment clears it up.

  • This is a bunch of shiit, that's all it is. You all just need to take a deep breath, look again, and realise it's a bunch of shiit.

  • whats the sticker on one of thoes?

  • Sexy watch, i'm gonna look for a replica

  • I just wonder how it gives it's output without then being affected by the act (I would think that to have it do something would slow it down very slightly)...?

  • breathtaking.

  • it's so beautiful !!!!!!!!

  • What is the purpose of this type of movement design? Does it eliminate the effects of say; gravity? Acceleration? or just normal motion of the wearer? Please don't flame me, this is a serious question.

  • yes, pretty much! with a normal mechanical watch timing errors will occur when the watch is placed in any position other than face parallel to the ground due to friction, gravity, etc. in the tourbillon the errors can be kept constant in all planes by gyroscopic rotation through all angles, and therefore compensated for accurately. this type of movement is incredibly difficult and expensive to manufacture - decent tourbillon watches can cost tens, hundreds of thousands even!

  • foarte, foarte frumos...

  • probably the most impressive watch movement i have ever seen!!! simply beautiful

  • What is it? Some kind of guidance system for one armed bandits?

  • Wow... that was utterly ignorant... Before you comment please research what the Tourbillon is for on watches...

  • Wow...lighten up - I was joking. It's obviously a totally gorgeous piece of engineering. I was merely exercising my right to express myself on this public space.

  • You're right, I apologize since I overreacted, it's all good then. :)

  • very nice

  • sexy....

  • o capodopera a mecanici fine ,impresionant extraordinat, oare cum o arata ceaurile mecanice peste 4000 de ani?

  • I'ts place is in a museum, certainly not on a wrist!

  • Lots of (very rich) people wear these. They cost (at the cheapest) 100,000

  • Worth every cent,, That is CLASS!

  • the real price of this piece of art is $1.200.000

  • jebany szwajcarski szmelc

  • did breguet top this one?

  • This is truly a marvel of technology even though the tourbillion is not needed anymore since the weighted oscillating mass now winds the watch to tourbillion accuracy. But "WOW" what a beautiful piece of engineering. If I was Bill Gates I would definitely have one or two to go along with my Piaget, A Lange & Sonne, Ulyesses Nardin, and my Rolexes!!!

  • That's gorgeous. I guess it's timed in over 360 positions!

Seriously, does anyone know the practical result of this invention? I mean how well does it rate per day, per week, etc.?

  • I think the standard cosc certified chronometer accepted deviation is -4 to +6 seconds a day.

This JLC might be made with an even tighter tolerance than that in mind. But whatever expected deviation it was built to, the gyro tourbillon will negate the deviation problems ascociated with a wearers specific gravitation bias that comes from their own typical daily use.

  • its a fucking gryo tourbillion, who cares what time it gets! this is like the biggest conversational peice ever! get a $30 quartz watch if you want good time keeping

  • Why is it wrong to talk about precision in the context of high quality timepieces? First think, then write.

  • fantastico!!!

  • price is going to be somewhere between $250-500K

  • who know price?

  • Beautifully crafted.

  • By far the most outstanding tourbillon movement i ever saw!!!

  • Lovely.
