The philosophy of cinema comes from the western. A continues development of such philosophy cannot be identified in the east. Therefore, anyone who wants to do some cinematic work will naturally have to find the roots of its origin from the west.
The post colonial mind of Sri Lankan people is always against the western philosophy. Philosophy develops as result of continuous processes. It cannot be made or either invented (Like Mahiinda Chinthanaya).
