Discovering that bosons exist and behave as we expect will affirm our assertions, but dicovering that bosons behave differantly, or don't exist at all would teach us something and raise new questions to be explored.
Science is not the persuit of a theories that appeal to us or are even useful, but theories that reflect reality.
Scientists do not reject the theories of god anyway, they are simply skeptical of them.
