Discovering that bosons exist and behave as we expect will affirm our assertions, but dicovering that bosons behave differantly, or don't exist at all would teach us something and raise new questions to be explored.

Scientists do not reject the theories of god anyway, they are simply skeptical of them.

Thus far they have served what is knowen as an effective theory, one that is useful in practice but not nessessarily true. E.G The Newtonian laws are less real under model dependant realisim than Relativity, but are still useful because they are just as accurate at describing the orbits of celestial bodies, and are easier to use.
Bosons may well be proven real in future.
