The Smiling Cop was in that commercial! I forgot about him. Anyone from the south side should remember him. Gosh, I wonder what ever happened to him. Thanks for bringing back childhood memories.
The old Comiskey Park was very famous for its "fireworks-shooting" exploding scoreboard. After Veeck liked the "boom-booms" from it after every Sox homer, I guess Veeck wanted some vintage pop song that would pay homage to the exploding scoreboard. I guess Veeck researched vintage broadcast home-run calls which ended with "Good-Bye!", Jack Brickhouse's "Hey Hey!" call, and found a rock group called Steam with the "Na Na" song...and the rest was definitely Sox history!! Yeah!!!
@lindenly22 No, Nancy Faust gets the credit for the Steam song. She played when the opposing pitchers got knocked out by the Sox. This was before Veeck cam on board.
00:13 its Kathy Griffin!!!

Remember the summer of 77 when this song was at its peak in Comiskey Park? I think 77 and 83 were my favorite Sox years.

Man, I love it when they play this at the ballpark. And it makes it better knowing that the Chicago White Sox started this tradition.

This is during the Veeck years so it's highly doubtful.
