Humanity must stop with the diffrences that keep us apart, so we can start exploring technology and conquering the universe as one. It's pretty stupid we're not doing this yet..
I wanted to put this down a long time back, here goes... 1) Kerrie Strug (USA, 1996 Atlanta) 2) Naim Suleymangolu (Bulgaria, 1996 Atlanta) 3) Jesse Owens (USA, 1936 Berlin) 4) Roger Kingdom (USA) 5) Sergey Bubka (USSR, 1988 Seoul) 6) ......(Unknown Ski-jumper) 7) ......(Diver, does anyone know who he is?) 8) Gabriela Andersen-Schiess (Switzerland, 1984 Los Angeles) 9) Muhannad Ali ( USA ) Suleymangolu, Strug & Owens repeated
i have been looking for these videos since i first saw it in ESPN a couple of years ago...it still has the same impact on me...the message is not only applicable in sports but in life in general.....
Since no one knows who composed the music or where to find it, I recreated the track for "Smile", which is used through most of the videos. I made it with "Reason". Thought I would share it with you guys, since we all love the music. Hope you like it.
can someone tell me where I can download this video? please? this is so inspirational. our teacher showed us this video yesterday, i feel like crying. If someone knows, tell me please. Thanks. :D
Heheh :) Funny that you should pick up my comment : I know that in sport, speed is measured, for conveniance only, in seconds. I was just making a science geek remark ;).
Strengh in pounds and speed in seconds? They should pay attention to their unit system because the guy who tries to measure speed in seconds isn't born yet ;).
Very good ads, that's what I like about the olympics : people come togoether from all over the world and fight pacifically for nothing more than honnors. Besides, the olympics are a place were extraordinary things happens like when divided nations choose to compete under the same flag.
@redguard12 I agree with what you said except for one point. In sport speed is measured in seconds, I've never seen any speed cameras at an athletics track to measure how fast they are going in km/h.
The last one about respecting your opponents is my favorite... these days people seem to have lost sight of what sports is all about. Greatness was never about showing off. Because unlike the despicable world of Professional Sports, the Olympics was never about showing you got "GAME" , that youre a "BALLER" or showing your "BLING" Such terms are only uttered by those people who have no class. The Olympics is all about Pride and Honor... doesnt matter if youre first or last.
The Commercial about winning the Silver was a slam on Nike's commercial a few years earlier. THAT is what the Olympics are about, it's a shame so many seem to miss that message these days. Robin Williams did a great job on these voice-overs
DIOS MIO !!!! Que se puede decir que aqui no se diga, para mi es la mejor campaña de los juegos que haya visto....GRACIAS, por que estas palabras e imagines son inspiradoras
all folks out there in the world, please stop always mixing up german ie with ei. her name is schiess... scheiss would mean shit in english... no one would like to be called that :)
She was Gabriela Andersen-Schiess, a swiss athlete who competed at the very first women marathon in the Olympic Games (Los Angeles '84).
She pushed herself to the limit because at that time she was 39 years old, so that could be probably her first and last chance to finish a marathon in the Olympic Games.
In that epic last lap to the stadium (which took her more than 5 minutes) several medics tried to aid her, but she refused their help because if they touched her, she would be disqualified.
She was medically attended inmediately due to her extreme dehydration and symptoms of insolation, but a few hours later she recovered completely.
Her courage not only made her reach the finish, it changed forever the history of athletics. Because of this event, the I.A.A.F. created the "Andersen-Schiess rule", a rule that allows medical personnel to attend athletes who are obviously suffering, without disqualifying the athletes.
As you can see, there is ALWAYS a reason to go beyond your limits
Whoever upload this shall responsible for those two empty pack of tissues that I emptied because I cried when I watched this... OMG. Thank you for uploading this :)
GOD... all these ad's, specially the "courage" ad had me all teary eyed. this is probably the best ad campaign EVER. I usually laugh at people who cry over a movie, but this... this is something else.
To be a giant. This has forever been our passion. This desire to be a giant. Not to stand on one's shoulders or to have one for a friend. (For these may be fortunate things). But to be one. Giants step over barriers that seem never ending. They conquer mountains that appear insurmountable. Giants rise above fear, triumph over pain, push themselves, and inspire others. To be a giant. To do giant things. To take giant steps. To move the world forward
