It is a combination of working slow and being steady. You really have to keep steady and not get ahead of yourself. Yeah-glass will make all of the curse words come out! lol
I just tried my first wigwag on a tube, and it got all twisted and uneven. I think I did it too fast, I just held one end still and cranked on the other. Is the trick going slow? I scrapped the piece in a fury of curse words.
@bradkrit Use pinpoint flame. Heat a section, spin and let one hand rest letting the handle drag on your fingers. Once you have turned lines 90 or 180 degree move the flame to the edge of the heat line and repeat just spin opposite direction. Repeat repeat repeat. Condense
Thanks much for posting, awsome vids, you have no idea how much i wish i had seen this a month ago when i was trying to figure out how to do a sherlock for someone, being the only lampworker on an island kinda makes figuring out form construction pretty interesting at times heh. Curious where you got those scoring pliers at? I have some wheel nipper pliers (Milli nippers) but they tend to explode blow tubes
@jackpotmonkey Hey there-they are called JAWS and I got them at ARTCO. They are awesome and I couldn't do glass without them! lol They score the tubes just right and then I am able to make a clean break. They were $50.00. We have been lampworking for about 3 years and have learned everything on our own pretty much. We are to the point where we have to start taking some lessons or working with others-we are kinda stuck. :) But its all good. Glad you like the vids.
@TheNomadcraftsetc Yeah I have kind of hit a roadblock myself, been behind the torch for about 2 years, though i have primarily been doing it as a hobby, I have a link to my picasa page in my profile if your interested. If you have anything spacific you are stuck on as far as techs go i may be able to help out, we could youtube colab or something heh
@jackpotmonkey That would be cool. This is my wife and I's full time gig-which is great-but we feel we have reached that plateau. We would love to do a video collab-that would be pretty cool. We are rearranging our shop soon and will set it up to do live streaming while we make glass-that will be good.
