Mikor hallom, mindig Gárdonyi: Az öreg tekintetes c. hasonló témájú kisregénye jut eszembe, ami miatt szintén átsírtam egy éjszakát, mikor olvastam. Hát, ilyen a művészet! :)
Don't forget the similarly great and popular Hungarian composers, Ferenc Liszt and Béla Bartók too (just to mention greater names, but I could list Lajos Bárdos, Ferenc Erkel, etc. as well)

However I found the choir beautiful, and I simply amazed on the fact that the choir doesn't have any accompaniment with it! I believe this shows how Kodaly's method can cultivate the musical ability.

But his work is unforgettable. So I'm personally really proud of it - and of this well-trained choir with this well-performed ouvre! And the same in hungarian:

I've heard some opposite opinions about Kodaly method. A very experienced singer told me that Kodaly method is being exaggerated by many teachers and being taken like a "religion". What she meant was the lack of using other approaches like Orff, Dalcroze, Suzuki etc. I'd like to know your opinions about that issue.
Firstly I have to admit that I'm not the best person to judge these methods. I learn classical singing in the Hungarian Music Academy - but solfege teaching not. I don't really know the others, but the Kodaly method is maybe more komplexed (?) because it's not just solmization or a few exímples, as it's wide-spreadly known, it's also a music teaching structure from the childhood to the adulthood. Exagerated? MAybe - but very useful too!
I'm not a great competent person about this either, I just wanted to share my opinion and wanted to ask somebody who's really into this issue. Also you're right about the difference Kodaly's and others' point of view. Kodaly created a very decisive method but others are considered to be "approaches". Atonal music cannot be solmizated. So the thing, that the majority thinks about the Kodaly method is hardly can be used teaching the music of the 21th century.
It is more suitable to speak about the Kodaly system. Hardly any music educator had elaborated sets of songbooks, teacher's books, curricula, etcetera based on the same principles from kindergarten, through primary and secondary education, conservatories and choirs. It is an enormous achievement. There is not any other educator, neither Orff, nor Dalcroze, or anyone who could and did this. This system is unique.
But you can improve a youth's ears with this method so he will be able to do everything in the tonal, rarely modulating music - and also Kodaly thought that solmization has to be changed after a while to ABC-singing (when you sing whith the names of the sounds).
So it may fit to every music - but never put a = between Kodaly method and the solmization :)

Már elnézést a köztől, főként Kittytől, de Bennem 9 év Zeneiskola után sem tudott mély nyomot hagyni Kodály. A mondanivaló és a téma annál inkább.Volt egy Kedves Ismerősöm, ki 97 évet élt. Sokszor több életerő volt benne, mint bennem 28 éves létemre.A JóIsten éltesse az időseket,az öregeket, mindannyiunkat.

ha valami megindítja az embert és gondolkodásra sarkalja akkor ez az!kevés szebb zeneművet hallani mint amiket kodály szerzett ,azt hiszem ez képes meggyőzni a kétkedőket.

Gyönyörű felvétel. Mindig is sajnáltam, hogy egyik kórusommal sem volt lehetőségem énekelni ezt a kivételes mesterművet.

Mikor megtudtam, hogy Weöres mindössze 15 évesen írta a költeményt, leesett az állam.
Kodály többek közt a következőket írta róla:
"A vers mindjárt megkapott, mert ritkán hallani ilyen őszinte érzést, és főleg fiatal embertől, az öregek iránti szánalmat."
Nem csoda, hogy azután rendszeresen zenésítette meg a verseit. :)
