How can you people complain about players trying to promote the best game in the world? I'm a Thrashers fan, but Ovechkin is truly a talented but humble guy. He's amazing to watch, like a lot of other guys in the NHL right now, yet he's down to earth and not ego driven. If these ads encourage folks to watch hockey keep them coming!

I would guess you are just trying to be over the top with your comments. Ovechkin IS great, and plays on a crap team. Crosby leads the league is certain categories in part due to the talent surrounding him, while AO has almost nothing to help him in Washington.

Give him a break, y'all. I think that for being in the States for only a year and a half, he speaks English quite well. I didn't really notice much to any accent...most noticeable thing was the missing copula on "He funny", which, if you knew Russian, is understandable. Also, I hear he's learning English without the help of an ESL tutor, and that's not easy, to say the least.

On the whole, I agree that corporate marketing finds us so dumb they have to explain, but this is a little different. If this promo was made for the reason of additional expoasure for the NHL on YouTube and other venues, they did their job.
