Love this song, but this version shows what a lovely person he is. I always sing along to it , not too well though, makes my kids cringe. Anyway on my own now so I'll go for it
no he was born in pikeville , his family is from besty layne, i live around 5 miles from his home place,,its right off of us 23 ,, besty layne is in floyd co , this is where the video was made mountian arts center ,, in prestonsburg ky , floyd co,, the us 23 is country music highway , us 23 runs from ohio ,to va ,, the floyd county 's part is named (dwight yoakam part of coutry music highway) each county on that highway is named after a country singer from the county the highway goes threw ,,
I stop by this video from time to time... I love this song.. I wore this song out in my truck on the way to work in the mines..
Brings back ALOT of memories and miles..
Now about all the mines around here are shut down, and no work around to be seen... All i can do is close my eyes and think of all the miles and hours i put in.. And wish i could go back in time and do it all over again...
Dwight(I believe) is a great guy and also a great actor because he played a real jerk in "Slingblade" and I don't believe for a second that Dwight is anything like the character in that movie. I wonder where in KY he is from. Great sound!
I live in Eastern, Ky and Raised up listening to Dwights music. Ive heard all the old stories about things going into that river aswell. I drive u.s.23 everyday and cross the big sandy daily... I have to say that His Voice matches this area perfectly... His music can make you wanna smile and cry at the same time.... Thanx for sharing this video.
hell yea his intro reminds me of home, dodging the coal trucks, the levisa river of my home town in virginia flows into the big sandy, dwight is the man!
My ex-husband was from Kentucky, He was my true Love. He was your twin. He passed away in 1995 from lung cancer. You were his idol. I love you Dwight. Jay, RIP. See you in heaven.
