What concerns me is the CBO est on cost for the first ten years. It is actually only 6 years because the spending part of the plans don't start til 2014. If you did the est from 2014 to 2024 economist say it will be more then double their est. All this spending and yet there is NOTHING in either bill that will cut healthcare cost. No trot reform or competition accross state lines or repealing regulations that could reduce cost to consumers.

Why do Americans think Canadians are dying and have shitty healthcare just because its free? I lived in Canada for over a decade and I've had to get several surgeries up there that would've cost me tens of thousands down here, all for free. I scheduled my shoulder surgery and got it done a month later..

What concerns me is the CBO est on cost for the first ten years. It is actually only 6 years because the spending part of the plans don't start til 2014. If you did the est from 2014 to 2024 economist say it will be more then double their est. All this spending and yet there is NOTHING in either bill that will cut healthcare cost. No trot reform or competition accross state lines or repealing regulations that could reduce cost to consumers.

Trust me, polls are easy to alter the end result just by phrasing the question in different ways. "Do you want socialist healthcare?" opposed to "Do you want a public healthcare insurance option?" Those are simplified but you get the point . And I can't emphasize enough that it's not universal healthcare it's a bloody government insurance option. Can't be compared to either Britain or Canada since they have universal healthcare.

Well, here in Southern California, most people I know - not just friends and family, but colleagues at school and work - are in favor of a public option. I believe the desires of people in places like NYC, SoCal and Chicago count far more than those of people living in rural areas and the south. Even the current option that was supposed to be "debt neutral" (that now costs over $1.5 - 2 trillion now) won't insure 8 million Americans if it passes.
Medicare, medicaid, and social security are also bankrupt while the economy continues to free fall.
