I was fairly confident he was Anthrax, until I looked it up. Anthrax is a bacterial infection, and the movie states that he is a virus (which are actually non-living). Scarlet Fever was covered in the terrible kids show Ozzy & Drix in episode one, so I think Thrax must be something else. Though, Frank contracted Thrax by eating that nasty egg, so a bacterial infection seems the most logical. Quick! Someone get a Bio major!

It seems a 'common cold' or 'small flu'. Then it'll start making your temperature soar up and above safty zone, It sounded awfly familiar XD Either or, He's still an awsome charecter XD

@frogreena Its possible that Thrax's virus name "El Muerte Rojo" or "Red Death" is a reference to Edgar Allen Poe's story "The Masque of the Red Death" Even though he doesn't seem to share any of the symptoms. I tend to think he's Anthrax and the writers simply took a few liberties, not to mention one of the main ways Anthrax is spread is through the waste of animals. Though it is mainly grazing animals that it is spread through, I think Anthrax would likely be present in a zoo as well.

@DemonGuard666 I don't think it's in any say to the story, for as you said, There are no if any similiar symptoms. Anthrax is a big choice I've thought of, but then again, There are still some differences. Even though anthrax is common through animals, and MAY be present in a zoo, But what about the 'little girl' or 'old mad' he talked about from before, they couldn't ALL have been working at a zoo.

@frogreena No offense but I still think it is more likely that the Scarlet Fever which comes with a rash, occasional vomiting, a flushing of face except around the lips. Not to mention the Scarlet Fever is more common in young children though any age group can catch it. Not to mention that they didn't have to simply work at a zoo, they could have visited one ore like I said, writers often take liberties and things, this could be an example.

@DemonGuard666 Firstly, No offense taken, Don't worry XD I find these talks good, I want to find out a good idea to what he is, so yeah ^,^ Second, True, they DO come with a 'red rash', hence the name... but howoften do they show most OUTSIDE symptoms anyway? So that makes things a bit harder. Third, yes, I suppose that there's that option, The only issue is afew of the symptoms and that there are an entire CHAIN of people he's killed... So that's not too far off..... hmm... :/

@frogreena However I don't recall it mentioning how much time had passed in between each death, it seems Scarlet Fever isn't contagious after the first 24 hours while Anthrax is not, looking at that I'm beginning to think it is a combination of the two.

Both Give the feel that he's Fairly contagious, More like a cold or flu is, Which makes it hard. And although it does seem it could be a mix, Why make a mix, just to start, And is it a mix? Or something else not very well-known? O.o

@frogreena I found something that might support the Scarlet Fever theory, While his name may or may not be a reference to the Red Death, the symptoms of the Red Death in Poe's story are possibly a reference to the Scarlet fever. Another on how Anthrax is passed is by breathing in Anthrax spores, though to catch it that way there has to be quite an amount inhaled.

@frogreena Possibly. But another thing that suggests Anthrax is the times he gave for each death the longest was three weeks and that was the longest time reported for Anthrax to kill someone while I'm thinking that two days was the shortest.

I loved this movie but anatomy class ruined it for me. One problem with it is that it assumes the pathogens cause the symptoms. They don't. The body itself causes the symptoms in effort to exhume the pathogens detected by the T cells. Basically the immune system is like "HOLY F*** SOMETHING FOREIGN! KILL IT! KILL IT!!!" But the body going kamikaze on itself would not make for a good movie.
