The original vinyl release was a crunchy, dry as a bone, right up front in the speakers rock'n'roll bitch of a blues number! This is the modern washed out, over reverbed, fairybread FM radio mix. It's sad that sound engineers such as the goose that re-mixed this actually get paid and most of all that ZZ Top ever let the knucklehead anywhere near their music! The drums on "Rio Grande Mud" are the most noticable thing but, hell, for example, listening to this tune on vinyl, the song is more than a minute longer than on the CD!! WTF???
