These were DEFINITELY worth the money, since they both contained many maps, new weapons, and even new vehicles. DLC's like for example, call of duty's dlcs, these are not worth the money. Seriously, its just like what, 3 maps? That's just ridiculous.

@stenokhoria Not really. He has a perfectly valid point, and it isn't the extent of what DICE or EA has done, it was the principles behind it. It doesn't matter if you steal £5 or haul a strangers 40-inch TV in your van, it's not right.
And actually stuff like this DID help as the pre-order bonuses were pulled back, allowing them to be accessed at a later date for free.

It's sad I can't get the Warfare Pack because I live in Holland and I do think it's bullshit that developers remove content from the game to sell it as DLC or a pre-order bonus.
If it's for a reasonable price and it isn't already on the disk, I think it's fine. COD map packs: Complete bullshit. 15 dollars for only 5 maps, plus a zombies map? On the pre-order DLC thing, I find it completely fine IF and ONLY IF it gets realeased as free or reasonablely priced later.
I have no clue about Gamestop's customer service, but they pay you an unreasonably low amount for games that you're selling. I was going to sell a Wii game there, and they were going to pay me $2, so I went to Game Exchange and sold it for $20. You can't buy anything for $2 these days!!
The bf3 related topic is obselite since dice confirmed that it will only allow pre orders to have the stuff a little earlier then everyone else. They did the same in bfbc2 where the thompson smg and 1911 pistol were early unlocked for preorder. What they are doing is rewarding loyalty but no exclusives.
as far as preorder bonuses goes i think that a different color/camo on a peice of weapon or equipment is acceptable because it really makes no differance and maybe as bad company 2 did was that you unlocked some stuff at lvl 1 instead of like 15 etc wich is a pretty good idea

I see it that the quick fix to this for DICE is to simply release it as free DLC later on, after the exclusivity deal has ended. That way, players get the Guns and Maps that they would like.

You made some very good points about BF3, and convinced me to avoid it entirely. However, I do not agree with your comments on GameStop. I find myself going there very often when I want a game, and I have always loved the customer service. One time, I bought a game and found out my computer was too slow to run it. When I went to trade it in, (as little money as I would get from it) the cashier let me return it under "defective".

@Matthewcoates459 dedicated servers are total shit, mw2 is one of the main games on my pc along with tf2 and magica. I tried playing bfbc2 multiplayer and all i found was a bunch of whiny babies on servers with horrible rules. CoD is the best fps based around american military modern warfare around, all battlefield is is a point and click with pretty pictures. I don't want to have to scroll for a server that doesn't have shitty rules and run by babies, i would rather just find a ranked game

This exclusive premium package that they're offering turns off the PC gamers because PC gamers are too lazy to get up off their fat ass and go buy it at the store, and Battlefield 3 only offers 24 player multiplayer for console players. Not to mention the lack of modding tools, this game will fail.

the gamestop over here where i live the customer service is very good and they have really good deals on game.. an example is i went to gamecrazy and got GoW for psp used for 40$ and went to gamestop the next day to pick up another game and saw GoW for 20$!!

They've pulled Crysis 2 off of Steam stores and Origin can disable your account after 24 months of in-activity and fater you go over your monthly download limit on ORIGIN they can charge you for re-downloads! That would have meant I was excluded from any pre-order bonuses as they are exclusive to GAME and Gamestation, both completely European stores. Excluded. EA is quite lame. In Alice: Madness Returns, a game I have been enjoying very much, there was a launch day DLC pack that has items that can make you hit double damage. First of all, the games not that hard.
Second of all, why couldn't this be a reward for say, beating the game on Hard? What the hell...
To be honest, I quite like game as a store. The prices tend to be cheaper than HMV for PC and have given me excellent service (as well as the money off points card! YAY)

I hate to play devil's advocate, but I feel either we'll have to deal with day 1 dlc or there will be a price increase across the board. Games are costing way more to make but the price hasn't fluctuated much at all. Games at one point cost $100+. One flop can cause a developer to fold up. If I am a fan of a company, I have no problem buying new. If I'm not, I won't care about the content I'm missing anyway.
I think they should've done the VIP Map Pack DLC such as they did with Bad Company 2. It gives incentives to buy the new version but does not leave specific people out. And, you don't have to pay $15 for maps *mhm* sorry about that. The Vietnam DLC priced at $15 was fairly reasonable considering it contained four maps and a bunch of new weapons and vehicles. At least it didn't just include maps *mhm* man, I have quite the cough!
The Physical Warfare pack was always going to be released for everyone. And Back to Karkand is an EXPANSION, not day 1 DLC. No-one has anything to complain about. Everyone just jumped to conclusions.
Well, as bad as it is, you think, the DLC is usually released in a total package down the road anyway when the price for it go down. Dragon Age Origins now has a version you can buy for $30 with all the DLC packs added.
They said the content of the PW pack will be available to people who didn't preorder "later this year" so in other words you'll have an advantage for a while still.

Even though I'm not getting it but Resistance 3 is a perfect example of the preorder bs. Pretty much every major company that sells video games (Amazon, Gamestop, Walmart, etc.) is offering a different preorder bonus BUT in the U.K. only (correct me if I'm wrong) they are offering a Survivor edition with all of the bonus items.
i felt that a lot of stuff was missing from New Vegas that should of been added in a dlc but instead they made 2 short chains of quest
I'd love to see something like Washington D.C. with the hole thing filled with tunnels, historic buildings and mutants in New Vegas even though I know what the next 2 dlc are going to be like the last 2 it would just be nice to have a place where you really have a apocalyptic scene instead of walking around a normal desert with a couple good enemies.

They have spent millions on producing this game and for someone with a platform like you to discourage sales of this game due to a minor mistake is not you.
If a games mistakes are large or numerous enough to make a point to change something then it will happen on its own due to the game being not enjoyable or playable, hence a drop in sales.

@stenokhoria Not really. He has a perfectly valid point, and it isn't the extent of what DICE or EA has done, it was the principles behind it. It doesn't matter if you steal £5 or haul a strangers 40-inch TV in your van, it's not right.
And actually stuff like this DID help as the pre-order bonuses were pulled back, allowing them to be accessed at a later date for free.
With exception to the SPECACT Kit and Dog Tags which I've no idea wtf is going on there, but I still dislike it.

@stenokhoria The pack that was changed however could've and was changed, it'll be available to everyone after release, but pre-orderers get it at Day1. I don't really mind that - content made prior to release is being given to people eventually, although I still don't find it necessary.

They did the same in bfbc2 where the thompson smg and 1911 pistol were early unlocked for preorder. What they are doing is rewarding loyalty but no exclusives.

the gamestops around where I live have excellent customer service and I absolutely love going into the stores and talking to the employees about the latest release, and it is a real conversation in witch both parties are inputting, I listen to them , they listen to me and I have a great time. I believe your views on Gamestop are taken from a small sample of the bad apples in the basket, any basket will have bad apples and it is not right to base your opinion off them.

You made some very good points about BF3, and convinced me to avoid it entirely. However, I do not agree with your comments on GameStop. I find myself going there very often when I want a game, and I have always loved the customer service. One time, I bought a game and found out my computer was too slow to run it. When I went to trade it in, (as little money as I would get from it) the cashier let me return it under "defective".

I tried playing bfbc2 multiplayer and all i found was a bunch of whiny babies on servers with horrible rules. CoD is the best fps based around american military modern warfare around, all battlefield is is a point and click with pretty pictures. I don't want to have to scroll for a server that doesn't have shitty rules and run by babies, i would rather just find a ranked game

This exclusive premium package that they're offering turns off the PC gamers because PC gamers are too lazy to get up off their fat ass and go buy it at the store, and Battlefield 3 only offers 24 player multiplayer for console players. Not to mention the lack of modding tools, this game will fail.

That would have meant I was excluded from any pre-order bonuses as they are exclusive to GAME and Gamestation, both completely European stores. Excluded. I have been playing Battlefield for almost a decade and I would be excluded. They are rewarding those that buy only from GAME and Gamestation, and punishing those that don't. However, they had to change their stance. Obviously they recognized something wrong.

I hate to play devil's advocate, but I feel either we'll have to deal with day 1 dlc or there will be a price increase across the board. Games are costing way more to make but the price hasn't fluctuated much at all. Games at one point cost $100+. One flop can cause a developer to fold up. If I am a fan of a company, I have no problem buying new. If I'm not, I won't care about the content I'm missing anyway.

I think they should've done the VIP Map Pack DLC such as they did with Bad Company 2. It gives incentives to buy the new version but does not leave specific people out. And, you don't have to pay $15 for maps *mhm* sorry about that. The Vietnam DLC priced at $15 was fairly reasonable considering it contained four maps and a bunch of new weapons and vehicles. At least it didn't just include maps *mhm* man, I have quite the cough!

Even though I'm not getting it but Resistance 3 is a perfect example of the preorder bs. Pretty much every major company that sells video games (Amazon, Gamestop, Walmart, etc.) is offering a different preorder bonus BUT in the U.K. only (correct me if I'm wrong) they are offering a Survivor edition with all of the bonus items.

i felt that a lot of stuff was missing from New Vegas that should of been added in a dlc but instead they made 2 short chains of quest
I'd love to see something like Washington D.C. with the hole thing filled with tunnels, historic buildings and mutants in New Vegas even though I know what the next 2 dlc are going to be like the last 2 it would just be nice to have a place where you really have a apocalyptic scene instead of walking around a normal desert with a couple good enemies.

i see smart marketing for retailers that get exclusive content for ordering with them... although i agree with you about if they are overpowered or giving missions that should have been in the game, but for cosmetic items or a small bonus, i dont really see the problem, potatoe, potAtoe...
