KXMO 95.3 Cuba Mo. played Sunshine,Lolly pops, and rainbows this morning. Hopefully someday this awesome song will get air time. The Jack Gold version is really the one that charted. Oddly enough Lesley's anthology box set is called A Summer Symphony.

For 40 years I have been SO sure that Lesley recorded her own version of Cliff Richard's Watch What You Do With My Baby (1964). I never saw it mentioned in any Lesley Gore recording index. Before I die from old age I just gotta know!

Look up Cliff Richard + title, listen (start at 5:17) and imagine Lesley in place.

Yes this should have been released as the hit. However the Jack Gold Version is the way most of us remember this rare song.

By the way Leslie's box set has over 120 songs on it and it is called A SUMMER SYMPHONY. and it's a scary $120' some + dollars.....

Another example of a great song with LESLEY GORE that went virtually un-noticed AND didn't receive radio air time - a truly fine musical effort that deserved more attention than it obtained.

Well, it was the B side of 98.6/Lazy Day so that in itself cut out airplay plus the fact that in the "summer of love" (1969) this type of song was a bit dated. BUT....the song itself and Lesley's vocal are above par and makes it deserving of a hit. Had it been released a few years earlier it would have had a better chance of being a smash hit, it would have been the perfect follow-up to CALIFORNIA NIGHTS.

I remember this by Jack Goldsound around 1971

I wish that version was on youtube.

This is the origional version which may be one of the greatest glitches of 60's and 70's music since Jack Gold charted it.

By the way Summer Symphony is my favorite song of all time.
