I know someone that works In The JFK tower, and I was able to go up in there, then er were driven around on the Tarmac right next to the planes As they took off and landed... I could touch the runway (I did haha) and I even got to walk on the white styrofoam type

As for World War II, you have to remember it was theatres of war, so everyone versed different people. Again, it was the Allies that won the war, not the UK.
