I have to write something on a scene from this film for philosophy extra credit, comparing it to Nietzsche and this scene fits PERFECTLY. Thanks for putting it on here :)
I think this philosopher is absolutely correct! Woody's a genius for including this in the movie. This idea about love and its origins is the motivation for most of the characters in this movie, most obviously Dolores, which also ends in death (like the philosopher)...wow
@Smuuglie You are totally incorrect and people should start checking their shit from time to time. He is Martin S. Bergmann, who was a Clinical Professor of Psychology in NYU. Peace.

When I saw this movie when it first came out, I thought it was great. But it doesn't hold up to repeated viewings. What ruined it was the heavy handed philosophizing of this old geezer here, and whining Woody himself.
@doors2288 , this a great scene, funny, i like how talks about the nature of God in the same movie, the Judeo Christian concept of it, Proff. Levy that is. Funny how in movies shit sounds profound, in Slacker, there is an old guy walking and he says, When young your mourn for one woman, as you get older for women in general, so true,
Don't you just love the way this has been shot? This specific part... Sigh!

Any idea what the background music is? Sounds a little like Bach's, BWV 807.

@willrobinson1229 Only problem is that he is not real :) He's a character invented by Allen.
