There is this guy named "dantheartman" who is a great painter and artist, and when he does sketches he skribles them the exact same way you do lol. but when he fineshes it comes out amazing, I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. keep up the good work man !
ii still have no idea of what just happened aha like no offence but what is that, the bird on the left has some long thin comin out its mouth the thing in the middle what is that, my closest geuss is a bong and the thing on the left i think its a bird buts leges are just weird like what is that or is it just me?
@TrezCast The feel of the nib pen is a different feel to black ink pens. With a nib you use hand pressure to make varying widths of line when required.
I love the Hunt crow quill, but I find that the ones from Brause Iserlohn have a better qualitiy and they are much easier to use. I recomend Hunt 102 fans the No 66 EF or 67 EF nib from Brause Iserlohn.
@Adeltraut I have the hunt 102 nibs. I have many Hunt nib's. I am using Hunt 100 at the moment. I also like the Hunt 108. Joseph Gillot nib's I use to (very fine nibs). I have not used any nib's from Brause Iserlohn. I will have a look on ebay.
Really nice ink drawing! My only criticism is the heavy inking towards the end. It sort of flattened some of the forms. Perhaps a light wash in varying shades would have brought out the details a bit more. That's just my taste though. Your under-drawing was solid, so the rest mainly comes down to personal taste and technique. BTW, what type of paper and brushes were you using?
Are you using water color or ink with the brush? I want to start drawing like this, black and white comic strip style, but I have no idea what so ever how to do it.
Well I am using Speedball brand ink that is waterproof /black colour. In the beginning of the video I am using nib's and then I am using a brush in the later stages. I also use fountain pens' to draw with in my other video's. Email me if you have any further Q's. Thanks I hope this helps.
omg i remember my teacher just randomly doodled on a paper and handed it to me and she said " draw something with it" it made me think alot but i finally got a doll in those doodles... nightmare but fun mental drawing ( or challenging)
u just made scribbles in the beginning and u ended up with such a pic. WOW! i mean the idea of the pic is random but still. this is pretty awesome if u get it from scribbles. xD
Lol when i try to start a drawing like that it looks better when im not thinking but once i start thinking of what im drawing i end up messing the whole thing up
The tips is called a 'nib' and it is removable and comes in various widths depending on what type of line the artist is needing in the work. The other part that the nib connects to, is called the pen holder. Art stores sell these items and they are cheap. Ink can be purchased --- Speedball ink.
@anmaree It's a gesture drawing. With gestures it allows for more freedom and more life within a picture. Whereas a straight forward drawing would probably be a little blocky.
Well for starters I use "Hunt" nibs (google it as a search for more details) The nib is the artist" type". I look after my nibs and I clean them straight after I am finished with the drawing task.
I use a soft tooth brush and some warm soapy water and I scrub (very lightly and carefully) the nib. Then I dry the nib of any excess water with a tissue or paper towel (this is to stop rust or some type of oxidization caused by water residue). New nibs need to be soaked in warm to hot H20...
no problem. I didn't quite see what you were going for at first...I saw so many different things during the process of creation. Like it started to look like the roster was stealing stuff from something then it looked like the rooster was opening a genie bottle, then it just looked like he was smoking hookah, but I am not sure what to make of now's scene but still pretty creative.
speak ENGLISH --if you can. "pigswill" ha... you are really funny and a little silly too. But that is ok because you have your right to an opinion. Try it and see if can do something creative.
Maybe, it is only an experiment and it is not my favourite drawing. Some people will get something from seeing what I do in this work and some will not and that is cool too.
this is a really cool video! i just have 1 question, how did u get the ink to be a smooth black? like for example i just inked a sketch of mine 20 mins ago but theres like blotches or something there r some spaces where the ink is lighter than the ink on other parts of the sketch & i used the same type of ink for the whole thing, indian ink, y is my sketch like that? was it because my brush strokes were incorrect or perhaps the paint brush i used?(i need to buy that brush u got in the vid!)
The paper you use is very important if you want your lines to be smooth and ink even. You need to get Bristol paper made in England and all good art stores should have it or something very similar. The paper needs to be smooth and heavy in weight 150 gsm- 230 gsm. Rowney paper (from England) is a good paper for nib and inks. Be sure to use water proof ink that is of good quaility- Brushes are sable that I got on special-
Well, still not as bad as the fleets of military helicopters that fly over my house all hours of the day and night...im talkin Cobras, Apaches, Chinooks, Blackhawks, you name it...ugh
That sounds awful an the jumbo planes that go over my place every so often are so loud. The planes you have mentioned are extremely loud too, especially the helicopter type planes- They sometimes pop over late in the evening and they just hover, and they are very loud, Hard to get to sleep when they are around, Do you live near a military base ?
I live about 45 minutes away from it. The problem is my neighbor hood is directly under the flight path of the training runs they do. Sometimes they fly as low as treetop level and its like an earthquake

Wow, did you have the drawing in mind when you started scribbling or do you just look at scribbles and see what you can make out of them?
anmaree 2 years ago
when I draw I never have a drawing in mind. IThe scribbling allowed me to get an idea of what was possible-
dinasaur2 2 years ago
@anmaree It's a gesture drawing. With gestures it allows for more freedom and more life within a picture. Whereas a straight forward drawing would probably be a little blocky.
