  • Imagine if a white yobbo, grotty and unwashed, wearing only footy shorts, were to stand on top of that waterfall, after putting down what's left of his six-pack of beer, and do his version of the Tarzan yodell. The animals may or may not think it was Tarzan. The animal herds would all turn around and start running away from the direction of the waterfall. The chimpanzee would cover its ears and start jumping up and down. The leopard would hide in a bush and put its front paws over its ears.

  • Edgar Rice Burroughs classics took over live action television series!

  • Tarzan: Lion rapist.

  • This brings back memories!! Never saw it on its first run but the 1980 re-runs in Singapore n I got hooked on the Tv series prompting me to catch up on all of the movies from Johnny Weissmuller to Mike Henry and books by Edgar Rice Burroughs. I've been collecting all Tarzan movie releases and am puzzled why the delay in releasing the Ron Ely series on dvds. I'd buy two sets immediately!

  • Que saudade eu tenho desse filme !

  • in the 60s, shows like this made tv so exciting,we had the lot,sci fi,,cowboy shows , man from uncle, time tunnel, land of the giants,my all time top ten would be 1 lost in space,2 star trek,3 mr ed , my favourite martian-- fireball xl5,thunderbirds,, stingray, bonanza,,rifleman, whiplash, rawhide, man from uncle, the saint, tarzan, oops think that may be a few too many,,the point lm making is there were so many great shows back then

  • @robharding1957 Your listing of those TV shows(The Green Hornet,The Wild,Wild,West,Laredo,T.H.E.Cat,The High Chaparral to name a few more terrific series)illustrates what tremendous variety we had then in the 60s.We have so little of it nowadays.I can already see by this fall's TV schedule what we're getting.More police shows, lawyer shows, medical shows, sitcoms,& reality shows. It's the same exact fare we get every fall from the networks & cable. I watch less & less TV as the years pass.

  • @theironclads that view of yours is so like mine---l could have wrote it, my wife is a sucker for all that glitzy cop stuff csi an the rest of that modern garbage,,she thinks lm stuck in a time warp,,but lve already told her lm watching my stuff because the so called modern special effects tv is so overdone its laughable,,and l aint for budging,,[moving] here in the uk, regards rob,,

  • @robharding1957 A great list you got there and I love all of them. I own a lot, and I mean a lot, of 60's and 70's classic TV shows that are now thankfully on DVD. I just wish this Ron Ely Tarzan series could be on DVD. Is it all still in tact I wonder or maybe a lot of the 1966 Tarzan series is missing from the vaults. Thank goodness for youTube where we can watch these golden nuggets. I never watch TV today,.....there is nothing for me.

  • @Nunsweepit421 you are so right my friend, keep hold of that collection, because in years to come they will be so hard to come by, they will make your grandchildren so proud and quite well off financially,,, take care and get to work on that time machine,,,give me a shout when you complete it, l will be your first customer,,rob

  • to me RON ELY will always be my favourite Tarzan cause as a boy watching it on saturday mornings on TIWAS was a pleasure and I will never forgot the opening credits of him wrestling a lion

  • LOVE THIS AS A KID BACK IN THE 70 WAS GREAT,,AUSTRALIA

  • I knew I was gay when I saw and fell in love with Ron Ely... never missed a damn episode!

  • For me Johnny Weeismuller was the quintessential Tarzan in every way. But for child hood adventure series Ron Ely is next in line, always loved the intro music too.

  • This was a pretty good version of Tarzan in many ways but... the lack of authenticity! Parrots from South America and Australia, monkeys from South America and India, Orangutans from Borneo or Sumatra, pumas from the Americas, Indians from Brazil.... I mean....Jeeez!!! The best thing about it was Ron Ely's incredible toughness and endurance to endure it for 3 years. Phenomenal!

  • Tarzan, Jambo, Daktari, and Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom were popular during the mid sixties. The animals were the real attraction. Every actor and all of the dialogue were only to provide cohesive framing in my opinion. What the heck, I was all of five years old when this stuff was on TV, so thats how I thought about it.

  • whre can I find the closing theme. I think it was titled "Tarzan March"

  • RIP Jai (Manuel Padilla, jr.)

  • Loved this show as a kid. I think Ron Ely was my first crush!

  • Sure beats the CRAP on TV now!

  • This is one of the most recognizable tv figures of all time. Even though he was just a man in a little speedo swinging from vines -__-

  • I remember inparticular this one episode in which some people, rushing to build a raft, were attacked by a swarm of black carnivorous army ants, which sort of creeped me out and frightend me. Also, I've always wonderd if they filmed this show on location in an actual jungle or did they fake it somehow ? The setting did look pretty convincing.

  • @Skulldini I believe most if not all of it was filmed on location in Central America as a lot of them were.It was the most expensive as location always is.They fought dysentery, malaria;animals injuries plus Ron Ely suffered more accidents than any other actor in history.I read a book on it in '73 in Panama.

  • @royboy56100 Thanks for the info.

  • @royboy56100 I watched the series as a boy in the 60's, the first 8 shows were filmed in Brazil, Mike Henry was to star, but after 3 Tarzan films and a nasty accident withdrew, Ron Ely took over the roll, after the first 8 shows, they moved to Mexico were the first, second seasons were shot. Ely did all his own stunts and took a beating, he was a great tarzan, later Doc Savage.

  • @htrrz Thanks for the reminder, been a long time since I read all that!Rons 'Doc Savage' was a disappointment, better than nothing i guess!I think they are talking about a new one, more serious without the 'gleam' in his eyes!Lol.I read about 10 of the Tarzan books. One of the best series ever!

  • NICE!!! Haven't seen this on network TV, since the Summer of 1980-a full three decades!!!

  • Was this version from the second season please and was it ever recorded on vinyl? Also who performed it? Thanx ;)

  • Since this was a 60s show....I remember some of the episodes. But was wondering if they ever did an 'space-alien invasion' episode which was fairly common on alot of action-adventure series back then?

  • Awesome!

  • I'm a kiddie again...hooorah!

  • Wow! that brings back memories, wish I could do that Tarzan call.

  • Originally ran for 2 seasons on NBC-TV in full color from 1966 until 1968,producing 57 episodes and was filmed on exotic locations. After it was cancelled by NBC in 1968,CBS picked up the series in repeated episodes until 1970.

  • to thebigbadwoof-do you or anyone else have the full episodes of the ron ely tarzan series i always liked that show-please respond

  • new york un rio infestado de cocodrilos, jajajaja,+.

  • see you later alligater, jejeje+.adios new york ajajja,+.

  • whats with the tiger and the Indian elephant? i doubt people were that dumb in 1966.

  • Not sure but that might have been a South American Caimen shown as a African Croc. I could be wrong though.

  • @babamulonMKD there was no tiger in this scene.i saw a lion, cheeta and a leopard no tiger

  • Does anyone have the full ending credits to an episode of "Tarzan" starring Ron Ely?

  • FYI, the show was produced by Banner Productions, with current distribution by Warner Bros. Television.

  • The Translation (from the animals) is shut the **** up I'm trying to sleep

  • LOL
