ubuntu is excelent os.

its only drawback is that it wont play most games and software programmers arent making professional apps for it(like Autodesk or Adobe´s stuff).

anyway ive tried it and its good. no connection problems or missing drivers.

a good thing about it is that it has good server capabilities and tools unlike windows vista or 7.

Wine is impressive in my opinion, I can play my Dawn of War games, and Call of Duty 4 as well with no problems.

im aware of wine....and that its capable of running windows apps.

but as far as ive seen some tutorials on it, people cant get things running on first...time. it requires much tweaking and "extra" knowledge that most average computer users dont have.

also wine should be installed by default on ubuntu with all the documentation needed.

what i do wonder is how big impact does wine have on running performance.

Actually i've been using windows 7, linux ubuntu and snow leopard on my imac 27 and,, os x is the best, no doubt. except for two activities: Gaming + Programming. that's where boot camp kicks in! :D

I must say, having JUST installed Ubuntu 9.10 to this PC, i am VERY impressed. Going to have this as my host OS on my new PC :) It picked up my wireless adapter and drivers which took me over aday on snow leopard, and the wobbly windows is just really cool :P LOVE UBUNTU!!!

well the thing is... they don't code it for money... so they aren't gonna make you wait to BUY the next big upgrade with the bug fixes and improvements. and the tech support forums the people actually wanna help you. i hope that cleared things up for you

@madzane94 its called open source, if the whole world switched to open source 2moro inc developers at apple and microsoft and so on the OS's would be superb. TBH it's the only way forward for computers, end of story ;)
