@anthonylk2005 It sounds like these tunes would have been included in one of Russ' many medleys he recorded through the years. I'll plough through and see what I can find - watch this space.....
@dawnlightening Hello Dawn - I'm not sure there was ever a lead singer here as this is a group of children singing, but I wouldn't be surprised to learn that there was an adult contribution to keep the kiddies in tune.......
Well, I have this one on the E.P. "Parade of the Russ Conway Hits", and I think the singing does slightly spoil it (never been a fan of children's singing), but I still like the tune, so it's not all bad!
Your video sounds superb as always!...I was just saying the EP 45 'Parade of the Russ Conway Hits' has all 4 tunes I mentioned on it. The same version of Toy Balloons is a much higher quality pressing. Even the screeching kids don't crack round the edges at all...haha!!!
I've got 6 copies of the original Columbia 45 'DB 4738' and the EP version blows them all away as far as quality goes...Does that make sense? :)
Hate the organ intro, hate the posh kids, and don't even like the tune.
The only thing you can say about it is that it's the complete version. All subsequent CD releases and downloads are an edited version due to the mastertape being damaged. I've heard Russ play this on the radio in a more honky tonk style and with no kids... much better! Cheers MT
@GarrardAT6 Stylus? - you mean I have to change it for 45's? Sorry, only joking. (Is this your subtle way of looking after my precious vinyl for me?). The stylus is 75EJ type ll. Thanks Doc. By the way, did you get the impression that Marcus Tomatos is not too keen on this one.
@IVORIESMAN Oh dear...Seems like he's not that keen on it...haha!!!
All I can say is...If it wasn't for this record being gifted to me at such an early age I would be the Russ Conway fan I am now! This also introduced me to Winne and Glad...Also very fond of a bit of Scot Joplin!
All thanks to this record! It's not one of Russ's finest...But there ya go...haha!!!
Did he ever do a full version of side by side, or was it just on the party pops?

@mattharrington1000 Russ recorded many LP's through the years, this could well have been featured - I'll check it out.

@GarrardAT6 Sorry Jon, didn't make myself very clear. I only meant that China Tea and Roulette were originally on 78, and you know me and 78s........
