@frankal0 It's different. Fat kids aren't told they are going to hell for being fat every day. Kids with acne don't have a 1 in 4 chance of being kicked out, having nowhere to live and no way to eat. Un-athletic kids don't face legalized discrimination in their future. They can still get married when they grow up, have kids, serve their country, have jobs that can't fire them because of it. Most importantly, gay kids are just like the rest, are fat, have acne, are already bullied.
In 1986, a bunch of us at college tried to start an LGBT group for the same reasons and were denied support from the Student Association and could only find TWO faculty members who would help us. I went back for a visit in '92 and there were posters for the LGBT group meetings all over campus. It gets better in your personal life, and is even getting better in wider society - slowly. Hang in there, guys. Fight for your right to BE WHO YOU ARE. You deserve happiness just as much as anyone else.
I graduated from Ithaca College in 1988 and , even in the dark ages of the 80s, Ithaca was a progressive place. It's wonderful to see that the College just "gets better" with time! Thank you Ithaca College!
As an IC student, I'm proud to be a part of such a positive atmosphere, where people don't care about the wrong things and care about the RIGHT things.
To anyone who is judged just because of something that they naturally are... have faith, stay strong, and know that...
Proud to be a parent of an IC Alumni! Awesome video with a powerful, reassuring message. Keep it up and continue to stand up for what you KNOW is right!
Awesome IC!!! It's awesome to see the school taking a strong stance on this, especially since it's such a politically polarized subject. Thank you for putting out this video, and thank you for showing your support :)
Thank you so much for making this - Ithaca College is a wonderful place to live and work and study, and I know it's not the only place where love and acceptance abound, but it is pretty freaking special.
Even if you feel stuck, there are so many of us that care so don't give up. It really does get better <3
This video is so touching and beautiful... I started crying while watching because I REMEMBER high school and how HARD it was.... but then I went to IC, and truly became who I wanted to be, and it DOES get better... and it keeps getting better each day. :)
Yay yay yay for IC! I knew that it was a great choice, even for our straight son, to be in an environment that encourages individuality and acceptance...not just "tolerance". OUTSTANDING!
This really makes me remember why I love IC so much. Their acceptance and diversity are so great and the love everyone has for everyone else is amazing.
One thing that I really loved about IC was how accepting they were of diversity. This is a great campaign, and this video makes me proud that I went to IC.
I love this. I don't go to IC but this is such a fabulous message. Thank you everyone for doing this. From personal experience...sometimes its real hard. But it does eventually get better...
Wow! Such amazing work and I am so proud (a little verklempt, but...) to be part of the campus community where y'all do this work. Let's all look out for each other.
This campaign really makes me think about the source of this. I just do not understand how human beings can torment anther human being to the point of no return. It is so painful to think that this even happens. So any body who watches this, please know that there are people out there who will accept you and love you. And it really does get better. Just hang in there.
I am so proud to be a part of a school that has such strong support for this issue. Great job guys.
