It's funny how people think all the weird stuff in the interlude is just there to be freaky or controversial. People don't realise actually how clever this woman is. @plusdemylenefarmer the whole interlude, to me, is about freedom. i interpret the brunette girl as gaga (as stefani) and the puke as a symbol for soul; that's where the whole 'exorcism' part plays in. the part where she bites into a heart (this is something gaga explained herself) is her confronting her fears about her dad's heart disease. you should watch mcqueen's deconstruction film to catch the very obvious homage she's paying him with the whole sequence that follows.
@soykul That's an interesting point of view but in the same time it's another proof that we can give every meaning we want to the most disgusting thing to call it Art. Gaga does good stuffs but fans -and that's normal- are overated a bit some of her creations, like, in my opinion, this one. Even if there's a search beyond this picture it's too bad she can't give it without vulgarity. Same thing with most of her outfits, she's mostly dressed as a xmas tree bag and everyone say it's great, weird!

That thing about the outfits though, I understand what you mean but at the same time most of what she wears wasn't even designed by her; it mainly comes from great designers' collections (Armani, for example, even designs things especially for her). It's all about tastes, I suppose. Sometimes I don't particularly like her clothes, but I respect the fact that she wears whatever SHE wants to wear.

@IStandBrokenxo I'd explain my interpretation with following stuff: first part, her clothes move, but she doesn't. She seems "unreal", doll-like. Second part, throwing up, the doll doesn't move, although someone pukes on her dress. Third part, eating the heart, she also cries blood and when she sits there, you can't see her face = lost humanity. And lust but not least: "Awakened doll" gets prepared, reacts to the procedure, but accepts it. "Fame Monster" and "Exorcist" do the rest.
If I could say something about this mind control thing? It is possible to control peoples moods and behaviors through music. At first you see her like a doll, not a living person. The older Gaga throws up this turqoise stuff on her, losing her soul and creativity. After all this, the perfect doll is complete and gets finished to perform at the show.

@IStandBrokenxo I'd explain my interpretation with following stuff: first part, her clothes move, but she doesn't. She seems "unreal", doll-like. Second part, throwing up, the doll doesn't move, although someone pukes on her dress. Third part, eating the heart, she also cries blood and when she sits there, you can't see her face = lost humanity. And lust but not least: "Awakened doll" gets prepared, reacts to the procedure, but accepts it. "Fame Monster" and "Exorcist" do the rest.

If I could say something about this mind control thing? It is possible to control peoples moods and behaviors through music. Thats why parents are so worried what there kids listen to, because it affects their minds... Do you ever feel like doing something while listening to a certain song? Or perhaps feeling something? @Phreestem Considering the fact this video is called "The Exorcist" I believe it's about losing her humanity to be the perfect being Lady Gaga is. At first you see her like a doll, not a living person. The older Gaga throws up this turqoise stuff on her, losing her soul and creativity. Then she eats her heart, losing character and love (which are the most important things of a human if you ask me). After all this, the perfect doll is complete and gets finished to perform at the show.

That's what I like about Lady GaGa's music. However, it's ridiculous to blame a song, movie, etc. for your behaviors. It's important to make your own decisions about what you see and hear. Babysitting is not the media's job.

I try to learn about people and things to know what it is about them that I like or dislike instead of blindly hate something just because it's trendy or whatever. I did the same thing with twilight, watched the movies to see if they suck as bad as I suspected. they did. Gaga doesnt offer anything of value...

I don't think this had anything to do with bulimia, I think it's about the compulsion to make art (and I mean "compulsion" in the artistic Rilke way, not the creepy Freud way). It's also about suffering for art - patiently being painted, dressed, tied up while paradoxically declaring "I'm a free b!t©h" - and overcoming fear.
In the Studio interview, she said the bovine heart was about overcoming a specific fear, but it still reminds me of that one lyric from "Monster"!

It was a big scary fad in the 1980s and now it's an exploded theory, like "repressed memories", and for many of the same reasons. Mind control *is* involved, if you consider panicky, obsessed adults feeding leading questions to suggestible kiddie "witnesses" to be a form of mind control. Lady Gaga encourages people to think for themselves, which is totally NOT mind control!
