There is always a right way to do something. One does not get the best results from less than the best methods, and treating innocent animals as "things" is inherently wrong.
I love Best Friends and abhor animal neglect and abuse. I also have to say that most reputable labs which use animals treat them well since no rational scientist wants his/her results skewed by stress in the animals.
Research dogs, cats and bunnies are petted and played with to keep them as happy as possible. That is why the dogs are friendly, just not trained.
Yes, some of the testing might seem cruel, but so are the diseases scientists are trying to find treatments and cures for.
dear god, I am a SUCKER for beagles... if only I were in the right place, both financially and location wise, to adopt a dog, it'd be one of these adorable pooches.
They seem sooo happy , thank you for doing such things , it truly made my day to watch this video , and see how happy these dogs (and you too !!)look WONDERFUL !!!
Sparkler's our girl!! We brought her home on Friday! She is sweet and wonderful. We are so happy to have been chosen to give her a forever home. She will never suffer another day for the rest of her life... =]
I have an idea: one year from now, train them for a hunt, the kind that is non-lethal to the quarry: Give them the scent of the animal they seek and then put him in a cage, about a mile away or so. Let the dogs sniff their way to finding him until they make it to the safely caged animal. The event can prove that these beagles are worth so much more than as lab rats: as pets they are companions, as hunters they have no equal.
Bravo to everyone involved in this rescue! Beagles must be very resilient dogs to be bouncing back so quickly from their lives of confinement and deprivation.
Having rescued 2 beagles, this story has really moved me. It just proves how loving a rescue dog is. They appreciate love and positive attention like no other dog can.
I love that the beagles are so delighted to have affectionate human contact. They clearly can't get enough of it -- even moreso than of contact with one another. Congratulations to all the rescuers, volunteers, shelters, and adopters. May you feel forever wonderful for having saved -- and brought great joy to -- the lives of these lovely creatures.

I only hope they check out the adopters well so they don't end up back in a lab.
