The d70 is still a great camera to shoot with. I have a d90, but my girlfriend has a d70 and we get great pictures from both! Some people on the internet complain about the lack of warmth in the d70 pics, but thats because they dont understand how to tweak the whitebalance settings. Learn that and you can take great shots! The biggest downside is the noise in lower light settings, thats when my d90 really outperforms the d70. But most of the time, the d70 is a great camera and real fun to use.
@bjoran83 I can vouch for that one anytime anywhere. That camera has 0 flaws and for 6.1 mp those pics are clear! I've done christmas cards for families before and done pictures for them and man they come out GREAT!

@kodoku7otaku the one i got the flash was broken off and the screen was broken, but you could still take images with it but it stopped working and i threw it out. i now have a D70s for £157 and with only 2079 actuations :-)

It would be great if you could tell me how the 1.8 inch screen fairs when you need to review images for their focus. (taking some small DOF images at a large aperture).
@kodoku7otaku i was worried about the screen too but it is actaully very good and you can zoom in on the images. the thing feels better than the 350d that I was going to get. Get a D70s if you can afford it as it has a slightly larger screen and a cable release port, the screen does not sound much bigger but it is noticible.
@ElliotGuthriePhoto Totally agreed. This is much more durable and much more professional than the canon. This is so professional and has such great features in the picture viewer than some do. There are many possibilities with this camera. And 6.1mp isn't horrible, it's pretty low but if you're just doing basic pictures, you're set! Mine was 450 on ebay with the body, 18-70 lens + hood and cap, 70-300 quantaray lens + hood and cap, one battery and charger, and two 512mb CF cards. Great Deal!!!!

I'd say d70. First off its a more upper class camera, but its not really much different other than 3 fps. But ya its a great camera, you should get one.
That was my first DSLR and I used that for the past 5 yrs and it is still going strong. It can still give you great photos if you know how to use it well.

It's great that you're reviewing stuff - think we need more stuff like this on youtube. But I also found it a bit difficult to follow the video because it was too rough.
1) The D70 in question was out of focus a lot.
2) Try to speak slower - follow a script, and just relax :)
3) Use a better mic, or try to EQ the sound a bit before uploading.
why do you say that? a lens with that large of a zoom range probably has a great deal of barrel distortion, along with pincushion at the long end and probably CA. stop acting like you know everything.
Well i will say i bought this at the time the d70 was out... when there was no d60
d40 d40x or d80 and this one was a good beginner digital slr at its time. I own a nikkor 18-70 AF-S DX with macro extension, a Quantaray 70-300 macro, a tamron 28-200 and hopefully will get some type of 28-300mm, have a vid on all of my camera equipment and if you want more info on my equipment then i urge you to watch it
This kid got more expensive gear than I have. I only have a Canon T3 and 24-70 L. I need to upgrade soon....

The D70s in addition to the D70 has:
1. 2.0" screen vs. 1.8"
2. Slightly wider popup flash coverage (18mm vs. 20mm)
3. Accepts a wired remote
4. Better designed eyecup
5. Higher capacity EN-EL3a (1500mAh) battery instead of the EN-EL3 (1400mAh)
6. Firmware 2.0 already installed
7. Slight improvement in AF
8. The MS-D70 battery holder (for CR2 batteries) is now optional.

It may be older, but its more of a serious camera.
