@Prisonofhopexxx "Accidentally" you're fine, purposely you end up losing the round. These are common Kumite rules, but you may find some tournies where it's allowed.
OMG those knee kicks are ridiculous these guys will not be walking after the age of 40. It's very impressive but this style of sparring is a little foolhardy.
Sanda should have became an olympic sport when China hosted the Olympics. This way Muay Tha, Kickboxers and Kyokushin fighters could compete in the sport.
@mrbuttercup37 TRUE your right a kick can do more damage to face , But its a lot easier to land punch in face. But anyway I still say the sport - FULL CONTACT KARATE would be much better and more popular if they allowed punches to face.
@mrbuttercup37 OK how about one Karate league that displays kicking and One for Full Contact meaning punches to face. Just a idea. I remember the fighter who fought in kumite said something like this.Damn I forgot his name. But they made a movie on him BLOODSPORT with Van Dam. The story in movie is probally fake but the guy said something like that.
@skywalker71903 its called Kickboxing or K-1 if you want to go pro. kickboxing was a creation of karate to allow such rules. Under Kyokushin rules head punches are not allowed because it can lead to cuts way too easily and have blood everywhere since they are fighting bare knuckle.
@skywalker71903 It would certainly be just like Muay Thai. What's with the need to change everything into the same. There is a clear difference between using gloves and not using them. So it's not only about why not, but why?
Very interesting sport.Very good video and music well apropriate. This is a good sport to start young with if you are interested in fighting... I'm not a karate kiokishin fan boy but I have respect for it.
However... no mention of THE ultimate kyokushin fighter IMHO: Royama Hatsuo Shihan, for his gedan mawashi geri or complete martial system. Also, where is Howard Collins Shihan, whose picture was chosen by Sosai to illustrate the chapter on courage in "the Kyokushin Way"?
lol, theres a video where he executes an axe kick, but matsui dodges it and gives andy a low kick while andy's standin on one foot, yet andy doesnt even fall! amazin. andy is legend. osu
@dridba I beg to differ; olympic taekwodno has the best kicks in the business, and even George St Pierre just admitted that taekwodno had the best spinning back kick in martial arts, and GSP has a Kyokusin background. Maybe because Mas Oyama incorporated many influences from Korean arts into Kyokushin, is why Kyokushin is as good as it is relative to a more stiff art like Shotokan?
@seanyglass Because they practice them regularly. Kyokushin students tend to, not always, but tend to focus on more direct line attacks. The talent pool for spinning kicks in Olympic TKD is deeper because more of them focus on it. I'll also disagree with Oyama bringing korean arts to Kyokushin, Oyama himself was Korean, but with the exception of boxing his skills were Japanese. He admits to the thigh kick being from Tailand and heaps praise, but never mentions Korean styles.
cant believe kancho matsui can land back to normal fighting stance after his ushiro, its like nothin can block it. lechi kurbanovs is amazing too, but a bit risky due to the fall
i feel sorry for the little guy that has to fight the big solid tall guy..the only way to win would be pure aggression and "phychopathic evil im gonna fuckin kill you mode" otherwise you dont stand a chance.
yes! so do heaps of stretching! and learn the jodan mawashi geri! it will surely help you in your martial arts career! cause the jodan mawashi geri is unprodictable yet very devistating! you can knock ppl out with it! goodluck freind
osu! I am working on stretching between the pulled muscles ... lol. I am doing the stretches correctly, it just has been a long time since I Kyokushin last and worked out too. This time I am focused on getting a shodan and greater. Once I get my flexibility back that I had in the 90s, I am going to work on the feigned chudan\gedan to jodan mawashi geri. I noticed that to be one of the most effective techniques. When permitted, the spinning backfist is good too. Yes, I need to work on my..
OSU! good for you! i am only a beginer but i really focus on technique and allways listen carefully to what my instructer teaches me... i too am trying to become more flexible, and learn that combo!! so good luck and keep pushing it! as i will do the same! osu!
Under Who's rules LOL........ BJJ under Kyokushin rules would be rubbish. Kyokushin under BJJ rules probably would be too. same with kick boxing. It all depends on the Induvidual fighter not which style they do anyway.
Well that depends on the fighter. If your fighter makes a mistake, lights out. And if they go to the ground, sure jiu-jitsu (BJJ is so wrong) will give that person the edge but if the Kyokushin fighter can over power the jiu-jitsue fighter then that edge may decrease. All the kyokushin fighter has to do is make sure they do not get into a lock or choke hold. Stamina and strength wise, the Kyokushin fighter will or should have the edge.
I like Kancho Matsui's Ashi Barai. I hope we do more strikes to the head in the future because in a real street fight not only should we learn how to protect ourselves but also strike with fists to the head as well. I know Kyokushin-kan is experimenting with strikes to the head rules now. The fighters must wear gloves and mouth pieces which is the only padding. I know why it was made illegal but you fight the way you practice.
12) who cares bout him, people that try and think they are hard by naming all the style they "think" they know are actually weak in real life... real fighters stick to one diciplin and learn the techniques correctly.
I agree and disagree with you. I agree that real fighters learn correct technique but real fighters learn many styles. Sosai was a black belt in a few styles before founding Kyokushin. Kyokushin is great for building body, mind, and OSU spirit. As well as great in a stand up fight. However it severely lacks ground fighting and we may have problems if taken to the ground either in tackle, sweep, or flip. I have four martial arts that I would like to earn shodan or better in.
Yes i understand what your saying, Of course its good to have other techniques. I myself am training kyokushin karate and Combined Martial Arts which inludes Muay Thai Kickboxing and BJJ. But i dont rush around trying to learn every technique from every style in the world, That would take an entire lifetime to know the techniques correctly.
