  • Anybody know what time signature this is in?

  • @ReservoirTip i listened to this on my 8 track player, that should help you out!!

  • Versatile eagles bringin' it AGAIN!!!

  • When I first came across this song a couple of years ago I thought it was from obscure 70's movie. One with a ambitious young female journalist that teams up with a burned out detective to discover who the disco strangler is, only to find out it's a rookie cop. However, when I Googled it I was greatly disappointed!

  • @Curtrx7 LOL, I remember the guitar stings from a sketch Dave Thomas did on SCTV, something about an S&M chef having a TV show or something. :)

  • I don't understand why so many people hate this song, IMO I like this song a lot better than "Teenage Jail" or any of their recent stuff

  • man kudos to obscure eagles songs. lissen to the guitar signal just come in and out and work that riff. plus the bass is all over the place, metronome drums. another disco send up/homage like 'those shoes' and 'one of these nights'. they like the r/b and the girls/partying but not all the BS that went w/ it. henley voice like lemon acid mustard in yer eye.

  • One of my favorite Eagles tunes. I tend to like their obscure stuff, unlike the most popular. An other i liked is Those shews. Brings back memories of when thees songs came out.

  • YA VACATIONLAND CAMPGROUND...BOOMBOX, PIRATES HAT, HIGHTOP KMART SHOES AND DISCO STRANGLER PLAYING!!!!

  • Side A? The Long Run was released as a single in November 1979. It reached #8 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in early 1980 It was the second of three singles released from The Long Run album, preceded by "Heartache Tonight," which reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in November 1979, and followed by "I Can't Tell You Why," which also reached #8 on the Billboard Hot 100, in the spring of 1980.[3]

  • A great song you never hear anymore!

  • YA EVANS CITY SKATING RINK...

  • The bass plays in a different key than the guitar, the singer phrases against the other instruments; only in the chorus the entire thing resolves ...

  • i love this track sooooo much, not many people have heard it. Even eagles fans dont no what track i'm singing along too

  • funky as hell! reminds me of thin lizzy :c )

  • This was the B side of a 45. What song? Anybody know?

  • Everyday after I get home from school, I set my CD player up so when I get up, crank up my truck this song comes on. Every. Morning. I roll down my windows, tapping my foot and then take off to school, and then play it again while I'm waiting in the parking lot. I love the looks I get. :P Plus, I'm a 16 year old girl xD Eagles ROCK!

  • Great Eagles tune!

  • AWESOME!... Thanks for posting.

Whenever I hear the beginning of "Hells Bells," I always hope it is this song.

  • Guess the Iggles didn't like the late Seventies w/disco blowin' up.On the other hand, look who's still playing in spite of hating each other at the end of the Seventies.Yup.The Eagles.

  • someone please make a guitar cover of this!

  • Love this song!!!

Completely trashing the vacuousness of the disco era while ripping spectacular guitar riffs!!

    Gotta love The Mad Bomber!!!

  • Guitar sounds bad ass in this song!!!

  • wierd - there is only one version of this song on youtube. Strange considering that the Eagles are so mega famous. I gave this album away 2 decades ago, but this song keeps resurfacing in my mind all the time.

  • Wow! No way did I really just stumble across this song! I haven't heard it since the 70's! I love finding forgotten songs! This is the 2nd one this week! I found ex-Eagle Don Felder's song Heavy Metal:Takin a Ride & thought it had memories, BUT ITS THIS SONG that just gave me a super old memory of skippin school, drinkin, drivin around HP in a blk Trans AM, T-tops off, music blaring! Being in Dallas & living in "the bubble" back then was great! I can't believe I just remembered that, Thanks!

  • Definately my favourite Eagles track!! Disco, Rock and killer vocals,,, WHOOOOOOO

  • Oh how i wish i was around in their time

  • wow this brings back some dark memories-

the leather scene ... amyl nitrate...

oh wait. that never happened... I just fell asleep watching Al Pacino's "Cruising"

  • Late-Seventies L.A.: disco, random sexual couplings, and the playground of murderous psychos like Buono and Bianchi. I was there-- this underrated song catches the time and place. Thanks for posting!

  • Please upload King of Hollywood!

  • this is my favourite eagles song without a doubt. don henley you rule

  • Absolute Autumn Cool 'n' Sweet Memories from 1979 and I still have my Eagles' Cool Mint Vinyl. God Bless the 1970's 4 LIFE!!!!

  • Are you dead bird? huh? Ok, the bird is dead.

Now to stuff the bird. What's your preference, beaks or cheeks.

  • there is 32 years ago I listen this song , and it's always magic , what a pleasure, the don henley's voice and the joe walsh's guitar, the alchimy....

  • @saresnoah Don Felder had no small part in any of these songs, remember?

  • Are you kidding me !!! This rocks

  • Don Henley's voice cuts like a laser. I love this song.

  • Joe Walsh is a genius. What a great riff.

  • one of my most favorite eagles songs if not thee if this doesnt scream 1979 i dont know what does 40 years of american greatness long live the EAGLES!

  • You dead bird? You Dead? The bird is dead.
