It is a capacitive screen. I think capacitive will be a standard for android phones. Resistive touch is horrible and cheap feeling.

I heard Samsung nor Android will not have firmware updates for this phone over the air. You would have to flash the phone itself if you want future firmwares, like the upcoming Donut 2.0 or whatever.

A pity this phone isn't yet available in the UK (O2 are dragging their feet). It's probably the best Android phone until the Sony Ericsson "Rachel" (or whatever it will be called) is released. Android is going to be buzzing next year...

i dont think the hero will be better. it has the same amount of ram and camera resolution, cpu mhz,....the main difference is that the galxy has a nice amoled screen and the hero not :P

Is there any o2 branding on the device? Maybe a logo on the phone itself somewhere or special o2 software in the phone?

not at all. the software on the cd is a totally unnecessary samsung pcsuite...the phone is seen as a storage device in windows without any steps necessary. on the phone itself is no branding at all,...not from google nor o2. this also means that there will be no over the air android updates. you have to update via usb (no big deal i guess)

nice! But i think this phone compared with Omnia HD seems to be very slow ? :-/ The navigation trough the menu looks slow. Do you feel much lag ? what about the battery life this far ? :)

hte galaxy has this qualcomm 528mhz cpu while the omnia has an 600mhz ARM...so you are right....its slower. the thing is i chose to get an android phone and the sony/ericson one with the 1gig cpu is not out. im also sure that as soon as the release date of this device is coming closer that there will be another announcement of a even faster device. :) the cpu of the galaxy is the same with the other android phones from htc so there was not much choice

i got it at the o2 shop. they just put it into the bag without me taking notice. sofar im very happy with the galaxy...the screen is gorgeous, the touchscreen responsive,...my wifi was detected, all googledata synced without a hitch,...android is very well structured as a gui. the soundoutput is pretty massive too...the headset comming with the galaxy is doing a good job :)
