    Grandma mary

  • I love and appreciate music like this. Thank you Irma!

  • @simonliquify Absolutely correct. I learned about blues reading the names in brackets under songs recorded by British bands.

  • original by little willie john

  • Une chanson de Little Willie John rendue célèbre par Fleetwood Mac. Cette version d'Irma Thomas est également très bien.

  • WONDERFUL SONG, WONDERFUL VIEDEO, THANK YOU SO MUCH!

    PETER tSCHIRKY

    SWITZERLAND

  • Anyone know who the guitar player is on this track?

  • Irma Thomas is coming to Bluesfest Byron Bay Easter 2011 - YAY !!!

(oh and Dylan, Tull, ZZTop, Mavi Staples, Funky Meters ... will be there as well !!!)

    Cant wait !!!

  • Tracy Nelson and Mother Earth did this so very very well. Irma often appeared with her.

  • what a beautiful song......I could listen to it all day long!!

  • she's so under appreciated.

  • Tks. Giliy for the share ... haven't heard this superb blues from her ... she sure has the touchfor it ..but personally deeply love Peter Green's version.

  • Nice version of this song...but...The Allman Brothers did the best version of this on their Enlightened Rogues album. Sure wish someone would post that one.

  • excellent

  • I've been a fan of hers for a long time, but this is the 1st time I'd heard this song; love it!

  • hmm, and why and I singing country again????

  • Peter Green's version is my favourite, because he sounds almost Ray Charles-like in the sadness in his voice. This is a great version, but it's more Motown-ish, so it makes it a but more "throw-away" in the way that Motown did that to some good artists.

  • Good, finally a female singing, so that I can send this to a man. LOL I'm being honest..there r a lot of songs done by males that can't b sent to a man. Thx 4 posting!!!!! I appreciate it..

  • Although, this is great nothing beats the original by Little Wille John.

  • @GoreeCarter I agree. little willie john owns this song. 'don't worry baby, we won't fuss or fight...'

  • What a song ! What a singer !

  • @IpkisStanley

    I agree

  • This is my all-time favorite Irma Thomas song. Puts a lump in my throat every single time. Thanks for posting.

  • Excellent!!! THanks for posting:)

  • I say this is greaT full stars, and a great job to, grtz Popeye.P S thanks for sharing.

  • what I meant by "was,"meaning" at the time" she sang these songs.I wasnt insinuating she was dead. Heck i'm only 19 how much could I possibly know about her. Duhhh.

  • what a lovely song..I really liked it. Irma was a great talent.

  • Was? She still is alive and touring. Matter of fact, I'm seeing her Wednesday night!

  • the guitarist on this is Roy Montrell

"one (the) least-known but most ubiquitous musicians. Roy Montrell was the go-to guitarist for New Orleans recording sessions and touring bands in

the 1950s and 60s. He recorded with everyone from Roy Milton to Little Richard, Lloyd Price and Larry Williams. He toured with Fats Domino and helped Dr. John break into the business"

(thanks to Rare Goat for doing the leg work on this... )

  • I've only heard the version of this by Peter Green - Irma's is just beautiful, I love this.

    thank You for posting this...

  • Well, if you really have to, there's a Gary Moore version. Superb guitarist in his own right but he doesn't do this song justice as Irma and especially Pete (IMH0) do.

  • bonita canción

  • When was this recorded? What album or CD can it be found on? And who is the guitarist?

  • It was recorded in 1963 for the album "Wish Someone Would Care" which was released in 1964 for the Imperal label. I'm not sure who the guitarist is, though.

  • Nice, very nice.........

  • Welcome to my parlor...

  • love it voice like wet silk

  • The Blues Queen of New Orleans doing the definitive version of this Blues standard.....except no substitute!!

  • That was special, very beautiful.

Today's female singers don't have that vulnerability... it is rare.

  • You have good taste in music, thanks for the uploads!
