Tks. Giliy for the share ... haven't heard this superb blues from her ... she sure has the touchfor it ..but personally deeply love Peter Green's version.
Nice version of this song...but...The Allman Brothers did the best version of this on their Enlightened Rogues album. Sure wish someone would post that one.
Peter Green's version is my favourite, because he sounds almost Ray Charles-like in the sadness in his voice. This is a great version, but it's more Motown-ish, so it makes it a but more "throw-away" in the way that Motown did that to some good artists.
Good, finally a female singing, so that I can send this to a man. LOL I'm being honest..there r a lot of songs done by males that can't b sent to a man. Thx 4 posting!!!!! I appreciate it..
what I meant by "was,"meaning" at the time" she sang these songs.I wasnt insinuating she was dead. Heck i'm only 19 how much could I possibly know about her. Duhhh.
"one (the) least-known but most ubiquitous musicians. Roy Montrell was the go-to guitarist for New Orleans recording sessions and touring bands in
the 1950s and 60s. He recorded with everyone from Roy Milton to Little Richard, Lloyd Price and Larry Williams. He toured with Fats Domino and helped Dr. John break into the business"
(thanks to Rare Goat for doing the leg work on this... )
Well, if you really have to, there's a Gary Moore version. Superb guitarist in his own right but he doesn't do this song justice as Irma and especially Pete (IMH0) do.
It was recorded in 1963 for the album "Wish Someone Would Care" which was released in 1964 for the Imperal label. I'm not sure who the guitarist is, though.
