I've always thought this song was beautiful, but only presented one emotion throughout the entire song. However, your version, along with the changes in dynamics and tempos, brings so many more to the table. As impossible as it may seem, I believe you have improved an already perfect song : ). Hopefully, once I'm done with your lessons and have practiced enough, I'll be able to play this song and feel the true emotion of this song as you did.
@xDrunkenMastersx I loved every second I played this song. FFVIII was a special game to me. I'll accept that you think it was emotionless or too rushed in the way it sounded to you, but I don't accept that you think I didn't play it from my heart. You can't know how I feel inside, it's a silly judgment to make. Truth is, I was so overcome by emotion I felt like I was going to float away.
@Lypur If you really feel that way then I apologize for assuming otherwise. You have to admit this piece was not to be rushed though. I'm not saying ,however,that it is not every musicians right to play a piece in their own fashion regardless of the original composers emotion.
@xDrunkenMastersx here's the thing, the original song was 3:26 and while it was nice at the beginning, it became pretty boring pretty quickly, which is why it was never really one of my favorites. his version was 3:19, made it much more complicated and added a whole new feel to the song that i never noticed. all of sudden this boring song became one of my favorite final fantasy song (his version). 1000 words is slow too, but its so much better than the original eyes on me.
@xDrunkenMastersx i agree with you , we rushed in the main theme. i believe he played with heart, because he did quite well in the a lot of parts of the song, with nice "ritardando", but it would be much better if he hadn´t rushed on those parts. final fantasy is not like chopin, where you need to do increasing and reduction of speed to have a good interpretation.

@Xytos first, this is a piano collection version. so it has to sound slightly different from original. second, listen this version kylelandry , this guy is one of the best pianists in youtube, he didn´t rushed in the main theme, and yet its quite sad and with a lot of feeling. like i wrote in my review a lot of parts were very interesting, but the main theme should have the original tempo, in my opinion rushed kill its feeling.
@RicoAlmighty actually, no where is it stated that his song is trying to replicate the same eyes on me exactly. in fact, he repeatedly states that he wants he wants to add his own style to this song (and you can clearly hear it). the fact that he made the attempt to add more dimension and made it blend together and work is truly worthy of a praise. that said, im not saying its perfect, and im sure there may be room for tweaks to make it even better.
@RicoAlmighty so i've listened to kyle's version and i really enjoy it. it's made me appreciate the original version even more. that said, i dont see how its relevant to compare the two because the styles are obviously different (plus, this is art). kyle's version is easy to relax and listen to. but if i had to pick, i would go with lypur's version. even though its harder to pick up, i feel so much more emotion (described from prev comments) from his version than kyle's or the original version.

Seems like the Japanese are way more into piano than "westerners" these days. Just look at / listen to Spirited Away or pretty much any of Hayao Miyazaki's films.

i sure did play the game :) i beat it 3 times, on the 3rd time through i had a good sense of how it worked and had maxed strength by disc 2. ^_^ FFVIII is probably my favorite FF and maybe one of the favorites of all time, although FFVII comes close as well.

Ooh and I also think that the tempo would've been better if it was the same speed as the second half of the video. Because I think the beginnings were too fast for me. I tend to play it a lot more Rubato and feel every single bar of this piece. Personally, I love every single note in this song. It's just fits together so perfectly. =D

It seems a little rushed, but in a good way. Its like you got so into it, you just couldn't help it. The song alone is great, you did a great job playing it as well. I've never heard it in just an "instrumental" way, so double cool.
The story of Final Fantasy VIII was my absolute favorite, and its sooooo cool how this song can totally just like wrap the whole story together so well.

Eight was one of the few games in the series where at the end, I was very sad that there was no game left to play.

Wow.. absolutely perfect Andrew. Thanks so much for the inspiration and the lessons, they have given me the confidence to start playing piano and have siginificantly strengthened my musical knowledge in general :D. i sure did play the game :) i beat it 3 times, on the 3rd time through i had a good sense of how it worked and had maxed strength by disc 2. ^_^ FFVIII is probably my favorite FF and maybe one of the favorites of all time, although FFVII comes close as well.

Ooh and I also think that the tempo would've been better if it was the same speed as the second half of the video. Because I think the beginnings were too fast for me. I tend to play it a lot more Rubato and feel every single bar of this piece. Personally, I love every single note in this song. It's just fits together so perfectly. =D

This is a different interpretation to what I usually see (it's a little faster than I play) but you really played it beautifully. The emotion was flowing all the way. Great performance :)

Hmm, I've always loved the Final Fantasy series, not just the games but the music in them as well. Uematsu is and extremely gifted mind...
