  • Saw this in my music recording class in a documentary about legendary music producer/engineer Tom Dowd and this video really just blew me away. This was truly the foundation of rock and roll. Amazing music.

  • The greatess soul singer that ever lived...

  • OMG.....look at that ASS on Otis! My hands are itching.....

  • This is Florence Welch's pump up song!!! Great taste in music ;)

  • One of the great (G.O.A.T.)

  • Music <3

  • Thought I was gonna hear da da ooo nanana

  • only a mature young girl can feel this how i do

  • 2:42 that boy done caught the holy ghost singing his own song! now that's what i call soul and passion..something we just don't get to see now-a-days..

  • questa canzone è tutta la mia vita...

  • The dislikes come from those lookin for that "Bustah-ass soulless cut" that Jay-Z and Kanye dropped.

  • 102 people tried a little tenderness and failed epically... that's the only explanation I can think of for disliking this...

  • sounds so soulfull dont it

  • 2:27 = white woman jungle feeva!

  • Such talent quite inspiring really

  • My little brother is nine & my little cousin is five and they loooooove this song. When I wake up @ 6 in the morning they have this song blasting through the house.

  • just a little

  • know matter how old you are, this tune is still one of the best ever made

  • awesome live version ... the jim brown and rock and soul ... why hasn't a biopic been made of this man yet? c'monnnnnnn

  • Am I the only one who thought that white girl looked possessed lol

    Great music tho.

  • @Chrichelley0320 she wasen't possessed, she just felt the music.

  • Thank you Jay Z and Kanye for not only make this song popular in modern days but also for introducing me to such a great artist I never thought exist ...#Classic

  • Oh. Otis

  • Funny how things that are, in and of themselves, good, never really go out of fashion.

  • Quality

  • Pure Magic

  • Muito bom. Maravilhoso!

  • Man, This makes me feel ALIVE inside... To bad his talent and many other just like him hardly exist now...

  • Came because of "Otis" stayed because of Otis Redding :)

  • Love this it's speaks to my heart!! .. also I just love how men use to wear well fitting pants in them years! :-P

  • 2:49 - 2:55 the aprt of this song that was sampled for Kanye and Jay-Z's song "Otis" and restored my faith in music due to introducing younger people to some of the greatest music ever written. I liked Otis before that song, and if you're here because of it, I don't hate you, and neither should anyone else. Well done on taking the time to find and appreciate other good music.

  • Pandora actually brought me here...I had it on Frankie and Beverly radio and this song played. I said holy crap thats where he got it from? Genius. It only makes me wanna know where does Kanye get his musical taste n variety from or if someone told him about Redding. Regardless glad to be lead here. :)

  • I prefer this to the New OTIS

  • it gives me shivers every time i see it

  • LOL this song will have only 2.5 million if not for Jay-Z and Kanye West

  • @JustAnotherVolg what a joke jay z and kanye west are not even in otis's league

  • @MrSoulandrhythm duh I know this. people have now just hearing it for the first time because of their song.

  • @MrSoulandrhythm lol, before otis came out, this video had 2.5 million views, now it has 5 million in 2 months. coincidence? i think not,. stop speaking out of your ass, he is speakingt he truth. no one said anythinga biout leagues.

  • totally epic .. :-)

  • epic.......

  • I consider any modern interpretation of this song as an insult to Otis.

  • @YoungC20111 that's sad

  • @Gammodore otis was known before Kanye! Dock of the Bay, when a man loves woman. Maybe for this generation he is just being discovered, but he's been around. Just like Sam Cooke and A change gonna come, redone by Seal. But you are here on this page, that's good!

  • Epic

  • 99 people don't have any tenderness.

  • Damn this is some awesome soul music!! Real music!

  • Sad that this guy is only known through Kanye cuz of that damn song.

  • @Gammodore Honestly! That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard! Just because YOU didn't know about Otis, don't assume no one else did"

  • @piaggio2012 I did, just speaking about my friends generally.

  • the na na part gets me everytime!!

  • 2:45 Damn She Went Ham !!!

  • i love how high his trousers are

  • Such a voice all I have to say is wow

  • I think of Duckie telling Andie how he felt about her in "Pretty in Pink" when I hear this song and how my boyfriend sang me this song on the phone when he asked me out for our first date. haha! he said, "Sarah, you're Andie and I'm Duckie so you have to go out with me!" it worked!

  • amazing

  • long live jazz, long live real music, long live OTIS REDDING

  • FUCK yeah!!

  • I love how you can't even see the red bar of dislikes

  • @kumij29 the fist positive reaction about the red bar!!!

    respect fot you..:D

but im sorry.... much more respect for Otis....(A)

  • Comment removed

  • @marayzee3 i have never heard this 'otis' song you speak of.

  • Played this to my class of 7 year olds. Never seen them dance like that! A new generation of fans!

  • btw some people are saying young people are only listning to this because jay-z.... that's wrong, as I listen to this thanks to donkey on SHREEEEEK! And Chris Brown also done his version... but ofc jay-z and kanye also has influence

  • Last weekend I said I'd try a little tenderness on school.... Today I did, she, the girl involved, loved it ;)

  • This is real music unlike the crap they make today, im 24 but I feel like an old soul with this video

  • @marayzee3 I would consider myself a member of the 'younger generation', and I couldn't care less about Jay-Z or Kanye West.

I first heard this song in Pretty in Pink when I was 12.

  • What a great tune .Lucky to be in the round house camden town to see this Stax show around then

  • @marayzee3 Have you lost your damn mind? If it were not for Otis, there would be no Jay-Z or Kanye West.

  • @natergtr Yea there would be. They just would have 1 less good song.

  • Don't say rest in peace because legends never die.

  • its in my hometown Oslo in Norway.. in a place called Njårdhallen ;)

  • hey I'm 14 I love this kinda music I've been playing jazz on the piano for 2 years and making beats for almost 4 years

I made a beat combining jazz & hiphop and I really think if you guys like this you'll love the beat :) and I'd be glad if you could check it out! /watch?v=FQA3x2_Ka-c

RIP Otis always inspiring me! Peace

    -ACJ

  • Am I the only one who knew this song from Pretty in Pink and NOT from Jay-Z and Kayne West?? Oh well. lol :) At least people have heard it.

  • He died so young, I can remember it like it was yesterday! I was listening to " SITTING ON THE DOCK OF THE BAY!"

  • Otis is getting down!

  • Star Power!

  • i love when the two guys in the "Duets" movie sing this

  • I think jay-z & Kanye cleverly crafted this song.

  • Every major artist samples the GREATER ones , get over it! If you really "knew" about music and it's evolution, when you first heard the beat and Otis Redding's voice on "Otis" your immediate reaction should've been to think about THIS original piece. Awesome song by Otis and amazing sample and collab on behalf of Kanye & Hov.

    Just saying though =)

  • @Liibz This is a newer recording of an old song. Written Looong before this recording.

  • Schade, das ich das nicht live erleben konnte..unglaubliche Performance..

    Was für eine Ausstrahlung..

  • lighten up , jayz and kanye are creative , they are definately not failures , you are

  • its so hard to listen to this guy because i fucking HATE jayz and Kanye. i wish they had never ruined him. the music is damn near perfect but it was turned into legit garbage by those two failures. go ahead fan boy cunts. attack because i say the truth.

  • @Ishitoneveryone Your username shows your true intentions crystal clear.

  • @lululemon123321 um ok?

  • 95 people suck

  • He died on my birthday :(

  • Sendin chills down my damn neck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Whoooooooooooooooooo!

  • gone too soon

  • XÉÉÉ! PORRA DON OTIS!

  • going to school monday... i'll try a little tenderness

  • (/•ิ_•ิ)/ GET IT WHITE GIRL

  • @AloneMnM LOL! took me a second to catch that one till I saw her patting those hands! LOL

  • @AloneMnM

    lol wow haha i see

  • okay so ahy is ther a giant haed in the back of him

  • That lady sure is gettin' it at 2:28 and 2:47 haha.

  • @spudmac19 No stage dancers needed, "we were the dancers"

  • am i the only one who think he looks like edi murfy?

  • hahaha lol Its one of those things when u think all black ppl look alike@olger05

  • @kaykaybootyhole lol, no i don't think that, but i really saw a resemblance xD

  • taken the same year, too soon, still missed.

  • a friend of my son come over she pretty wants to hear this but she at time cant remember the title but try to sing some of it im a music buff my husband not really but he guessed before me i was not hating but yea he beat me she was so happy and proceeded to be her little pretty youn and overly happy self???? she lightened up the house that night was a little dreary an we was amazed that she even knew the song we asked her how she said My parents and grands play all the oldies and goodies WOW!!!

  • Did he have to run off stage like that to prevent all the women and homosexuals from tearing his clothes off?

  • damn near every rap song is a sample if u can't notice that your closed minded listen to rock metal country folk gospel any thing it's all hip hop baby

  • cool song i just love it

  • People say Jay z and Kanye messed this song up. They don't know anything about Hip Hop. A lot of rappers sample songs from old artis like Otis Redding. Rappers show them love for their music back in the day. Of course their sample is going to be a little different then the original. Hip hop and R&B are the only two types of music that sample from old songs.

  • wasnt long after this recording that he and members of the Bar Keys were killed (only Ben Cauley survived) very sad.

  • Literally gets no better.

  • this version is better than chrisbrown!

  • @JoelzJamz12 ChrisBrown sang this,also?You sure it wasn't "Try a LittleTenderizing"?

  • 2:26 - almost 30 years before rage agianst the machine

    serious headbanging

  • i love it how there's always one commentor telling everyone to calm down and stop arguing about the music and just listen to it. i like the fact that kanye and jay z like to sample music from other artists, it gives depth to their own and pays tribute to the past of african american music. eg. in otis i like how they choose to sample Otis Redding, contrasting their lavish and luxurious rap lyrics with the history of black music in America which was borne out of suffering and pain

  • most artists nowadays sample from "greatness" because they cant' make their own. no one is original anymore, not like otis, not like marvin, not like james none of em. im pretty well rounded with music i listen to all types including rap and hip hop, do like some, but i LOVE this music, i grew up with all of it. it never gets old

  • 2:43 OOOOHHHH so that's the part Jay-Z repeats over and over in his song.

  • this is soo good!

  • @AmTheTiggles NOW, THAT IS WHAT IS CALLED SOUL!

  • I'm 17, and this was like on top 10 of best songs ever listened to, first time 31 december 2011.... Was there a better way of starting 2012? and know I understand why Justin Bieber is so hated, this song is awesome and only got 5 millions views.... Bieber screams baby and got almost 700 millions views, but the dislike bar says everything

  • Also I respect everyone's opinion to music but I think we are forgetting that writing a song, choosing the instruments, and singing it makes "sampling"(Something a computer does for you) look like lifting a finger, it takes true raw talent to write and sing a song without any technological help, musicians were artists back then, poets, what we have now are just talkers, no flow, no charisma to their music

  • I will state it again and again, have some respect when you come here, the people who listened to this music are tired of the modern shit, whether they be old or young like me, so don't be coming here like ohh Kanye and Jay Z killed this song, that shit was tight, because we like to listen to real music, they are not fans of Otis that is BS if they were they would not steal this song from him and make it about sex and drugs, they destroyed this song

  • this song is from fucking 67', and I actually like the song :D

  • by the way she's 13

  • I like that Kanye and JayZ did this song it brought a very great singer to some people who weren't alive when he first sang this song it's as great now as it was then. My daughter recognized this song on the radio without Kanye and JayZ and asked was this the original person who sang it I told her yes and she said Wow he's really good!

  • shout out to all the Otis fans..

  • Sounds so soulful, dont you agree?

  • @ShutUpFoolStudios IT IS SOULFUL. but dont quote that SOB kanye west

  • @zachisaniceperson Jay said that

  • joerjack66 nah , Otis is THE MASTER !!!

  • shout out to otis but that boy chris brown killed this song

  • HE invented swagg B)

  • wow!!!

  • that white girl in the vid was jammin...

  • The ending is so powerful. Absolutely perfect, from start to finish. I'm listening this sitting down and my blood is rushing 2000 Kilometers an hour, I can't even begin to imagine how it was to be there.

  • Can't we just listen to the fucking song instead of some massive debate about Kanye West, Jay Z and Otis? Everyone has different taste in music. In my opinion, both amazing songs. Just different, Kanye and Jay didn't ruin this song, they just sampled it which shows they have appreciation for the song.

  • @krazybananas6991 Show what appreciation? They messed up a good song by a fabolous, positive artist with their garbage, negative rapping.

  • @krazybananas6991 yeah the version of kanye west and jay-z sucks and the fuck up otis voice on their version. And the only taste of music there are is good or bad thats it

  • @krazybananas6991 AMEN BROTHER

  • @krazybananas6991 And I'm pretty sure they pushed this upload to 5million views. See how the old and new work together!

  • I Need To Learn Me Sum Moves Like That

  • I'm not one of those "rap is crap" bitter people, in fact i really like some rap songs, but I know I can't be the only one that absolutely can't stand the Kanye and Jay-Z song. It sounds like absolute shit, their lyrics blow, and I hate trying to type in Otis Redding on youtube only to be reminded of that shitstorm

  • simply classic .

  • who cares how old you are? it doesnt matter, this music is timeless, i'm not impressed by your youth, im impressed by your taste

  • One of the top performances of all time

  • BTW, the 90+ dislikes. You need to have your ears checked and your heart too cause this song is way deeper than you'll probably ever know.

  • sampling is a form of respect...and it puts large amounts of income in artist pockets who may not be making any money at all...I met Lenny williams he told me a very inspiring story on how him being sampled by artist has been a great source of income and has allowed him to do a few shows

  • wish i was there. RIP Otis and all of them who died because of that accident

  • The best of soul music !!

  • Fuck Kanye and Jay Z

  • daaymn dat white girl can shake her head!

  • It's called sampling, it's would be one thing if they were doing it and not giving Otis any credit, but that's not it at all. You're an idiotic piece of filth if you think their music, first doesn't take creativity and skill, and second,is ruining the country or music within it.

  • Truth is you aren't buying shit. If Jay and Kan-ya brought you here, you are looking for re-mixing 'cause that's all they have. They need to figure out their own shit.

  • Kanye is a cancer on our society and all that he touches or breathes on.

  • I think the point is there are not a lot of original artists left. They want to suck the life out of what has already been done ... and take credit it for all of it. That is the point. Lazy and entitlement ... ruining this country and ruining the music we love.

  • what idot put Jay and Kanye, they dont deserve be on the same pagea dn they should be shot to use their tracks. now young one's this is real music, called feeling and love for all

  • @reser1966 its called remixxing and it if you had an idea then you would realise that any publicity is good publicity, no one is questioning this man. zoo shhhhh and enjoy please

  • Ive allways liked the commitments version of this, but you can never beat the original, and yes thanks to Kanye, im now here listening to this.

  • Otis Redding kills every version of this song :)!

  • oooooo shit i feel like dancing thou im dance dumb ...ooooowwweee

  • im 25 and been listening to greats like this since i was young thanks to my older parents. These "artists" today cant compare. sorry. it doesnt take much to rap. its not talent to rap to some beat that has already been composed and not something actually made with instruments.

  • am i the only person whos listening this coz donkey from shrek?

    "you wanna hold her?"

    "yes"

    "you wanna squeeze her?"

    "yes"

"THEN YOU GOT'A GOT'A TRY A LITTLE TENDERNESS"

  • Oh yeah!!!!!

  • My father brought me here. He played it in the car and I've been singing it ever since.

  • got bought Dock Of the Bay, an album i got when i was 12, '93 i think, since then i got hooked on anything that sound remotely like This classic. Also im into hip hop, i go nuts when i hear amazing tracks like this get chopped into something new.

  • @SwaggKiddJay no, not hiphop in general, i know there's good hiphop music, i was talking about most, not all, of the mainstream songs.

  • hova and yeezy.....get off this guys dick

  • @JoshandNoah1001 and who is your inspriation to get the best out of you?

  • LMAO IM DONE YALLL

  • im 15 and id rather listen to Otis Redding or Marvin Gaye than what most people my age listen too. This is good music in my opinion, not like current music, nothing about how many bitches suck your dick or how much drugs you do.

  • @julianyolo if you are talking about the hiphop community your being so ignorant

  • @julianyolo

No one cares how old you are and how much better you think you are for not listening to what's popular today.

  • @julianyolo stay away from tv and radio..and you will just fine

  • @julianyolo Watch your language young buck!

  • @julianyolo lol and you have yolo in your username from drakes song. hahahaha ok.
