hahaha my catahoula does the same thing.once i put her out back and when i went to bring her in,she was on the roof.she had climbed the tree that sits right next to my house and got on the roof.its a really big oak so the branches were thick enough that she could walk on them with no problem.lol it took forever to get her down tho.
@bIackdeer93 Just because you can't do it doesn't mean the dog shouldn't. My late AmStaff could go 8 feet up into a tree and lived to a ripe old 14. Most dogs will do athletic activities a human wouldn't think of. Imagine a pack of beagles flying through the woods baying after some rabbit. They can break their legs in a hole or be impaled on a branch or something. A dog is a tough critter and will do about anything you can imagine. An athlete is an athlete.
Love it! Mine likes to climb too! That's what the breed does! They will be ok. Our is mixed with an Australian Shepard so she can't get as high up but she tries!
Thanks for the concern. But I watch him very carefully and we only let him do a couple trees every once in a while. He does lots of other stuff (agility, swimming, walking) but I always make sure not to over due it. Baron's only a year and a half so I'm watching it carefully! If we let him he would climb ALL day...
Great looking dog. Can't wait to get my catahoula pup.

@bIackdeer93 This is the case with most dogs, but Catahoula's seem to suffer less than others. Lundehunds are another good example of climbing dogs.

@bIackdeer93 They can get hip and bone problems by running around and exploring. Curr dogs are very restless. My dog never stops running.
