  • her is the fix

  • yeeey just changed my wifi settings to WPA2 n its working perfectly...

  • Obtain Static IP address and everything will work just fine on problematic routers.

I also reserved IP address for my Galaxy S over my MAC address in AP.

For other networks (routers) turn off static IP address.

    Sorry for bad English. Cheers!

  • it duzz the same thing to my phone it is a big fuck up by samsung thay need to fix it if thay can

  • i have the same problem !! i had an optimus black and it connected like magic !! and this double the price device is having problems.. really samsung ?

  • The only reason the static IP workaround appears to "fix" the issue is because it bypasses DHCP on the router. I'm telling you, switch to another router. You're going to encounter the same problem with other devices (if you haven't already) that try to use DHCP to get an IP address from that Netgear router.

  • @khalilguinn Cheers for your help and suggestion, it is indeed appearing to be an issue with the router, someone else in the house has a new phone a HTC Sensation XL and has this same problem as me.

  • Try this it worked for me........go to wi-fi settings then open up advanced settings. Make sure the static ip is ticked and that should work.

  • The problem is not with the phone. I used to have a Netgear WNR1000 v1 and all of my devices connecting over Wi-Fi (Roku, Blackberry, Laptops, etc.) would take forever to get an IP address. The issue is with DHCP on the router. If you swap it out with a Linksys or a different brand you'll see a big difference. I switched to the wi-fi on my UBEE cable modem/router and my devices connect within a few seconds now.

  • I have a WiFi issue - S2 connects to WiFi ok but cannot access web. Tried everything I could. Just found this tip - open your keypad and type *#*#526#*#* wait for it to go through its check, reboot modem/router and it now works... just testing to see how long it works for.

  • I had the same issue. You need to go into your routers web interface and change your routers security from WEP to either WPA or WPA2. As soon as I did this my problem was solved.

  • @EVELSSV Thanks, its already set to WPA2 never used anything else.

  • I can't connect to network either-_- I never could, i just bought it and tried several times after brought it home but nope... I touch connect on my Note, it says "obtaining IP address" for like ever. After that it says: "Disabled"? What the fuck? Im high as fuck so don't expect my english to be top notch:/

  • I have the same problem. I registered the phone MAC address to my WiFi web manager to connect to the internet but as soon as the WiFi is restarted, the WiFi web manager unregistered the phone MAC address. It is frustrating to have to repeat registering the MAC everytime Im connecting to the net.

  • Try to un-install apps you recently installed before the problem occurred. I think that fixed my problem. Im just not sure what apps I uninstalled though, but I think its worth the try.

  • @garciajohnray I think the problem is alot deeper than that, as the description say iv hard reset the phone a few times tried custom roms etc, its pretty much like this outa the box nothing alters the situation. And it cant be a router issue as absolutely nothing I own or have ever owned behaves like this. Its that bad im considering trading in for a different phone, waiting 2+ minutes to connect is just unacceptable in my book.

  • I had this same problem, then i took an arrow to the knee... xD just do a factory reset, worked for me on my galaxy s2! :)

  • Im having the same problem. My I just bought my sgs2 last month. I hope Samsung will fix this. This is very disappointing.

  • @garciajohnray it is very, It should just work nothing else I own that uses wi-fi phones, games consoles etc connect straight away to the same router everytime except this dam phone! I love it except for this issue.

  • @LeeGee1983 the problem on my phone is gone now. how about you guys?

  • @garciajohnray No still exists on my phone.

  • same ip address try to do something with it maybe thats will help XD

  • I'm having the same issue on my ATT Samsung Galaxy S2. It was working fine with wifi but now it gets stuck on obtaining an IP address. If I tell the phone to use a static IP I can get it to work.

Whenever I enable/disable WIFI I get an error message saying that the Tethering Manager process has crashed. Its listed at com.tecace.tetheringmanger. As far as I can tell this thing runs even if you dont use tethering (which I dont). Apparently it can detect/change wifi status, so maybe its related.

  • @gigo08 Tried the static IP address on mine Not sure if im supposed tio fill all the details in that are empty? Still does the same thing if selected anyways. Im hoping Samsung will investigate if I get enough people with the same issue!

  • just recieved my s2, same problem with my sky router :(

  • same

  • damn it I thought it was not a known problem.. but it seems we (I am in the same boat) have the same problem... It happened to my phone today.... but on my Phone the Wifi Signal is showing.. (dark grey, not the connected light grey) WTF is that.. ANYBODY solved this problem yet?

  • @buddu81 No fix as far as im aware. Pretty bad flaw if you ask me on such a high level phone. My old Nokia N82 out performs this on the wifi.

  • @LeeGee1983 Damn it... I mean its ok running the packet data through my service provider .. but then again better having wifi right when its free... I posted on the "official" Samsung and GSII fan pages and no replies yet to how to address the problem. My Phone is (literally) rooted .. Any idea if when re-rooted this problem disappears or if the 2.3.6 upgrade fixes it?? Cheers

  • @buddu81 Theres no fix as far as I am aware, im using samsungs official 2.3.5 update on Orange UK, iv also rooted and tried custom ROMS. It still does the same thing. Iv contacted Samsung on their twitter twice, but they are not interested.

  • press *#526# then reset modem and handpone wait until 30minutes then try connect again.it works

  • @kidaadcsb Not sure about this one? Iv Hard reset my phone various times and had different roms on all of which would of reset the modem or whatever it does to it. And the problem is still persistent. Even after a hard reset it does the exact same thing.

  • same here .......

  • same problem as well.

  • I have it to..

  • Still no fix its as bad as ever for me again now. Took 3minutes today to connect. Its beyond a joke really.

  • same problem here, HELP?

  • I had connection problems and 2.3.5 seem to solve it but 10 days later problm was back again. Mine won't get an IP, and if i configure for fixed IP, it connects but doesn't provide me with internet access.

  • Please tell me that samsung galaxy s2 have any issue or not please tell me i am want to buy '' KINDLY REPLY ME AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE''

  • @coollestboyever Mine only has the wifi issue as shown in my video, there are no further problems.

  • one more with this problem.... idk what to do

  • I also have the same problem

  • Updates not seen anything I've done it not solve anything to help me even om personal problem

  • Iv tried custom 2.3.5 roms out which actually seem to help, but not entirely eliminate the problem. According to samsung its not a known issue, but I beg to differ as Iv read similar issues elsewhere.

  • I have face the same problem, is there any solution?
