I know this hymn in the 19th cent. translation by Frances E Cox, "Sing Praise to God who Reigns on High" which in many current hymnals is sung to the tune Mit Freuden Zart. I did a search once for the text to that hymn tune and wondered why it was so different from the text I knew--but the text Bach set is, using my less than sterling German, much closer to the one in the hymnbook. I wonder why Bach's musical settings have not caught on for this really great hymn?
Love the beginning choral
