the intro is pure HELLO THERE. i love the hold steady. but SERIOUSLY how can you not hear Cheap Trick in this song? He has always stated Cheap Trick was a major influence. the opening riff, snare intro, it's a direct rip. it's not an issue, i love both bands. but i'm AMAZED no one has noticed this. as a major Cheap Trick fan and Over The Edge fanatic, i know that riff. i LOVE what they did with it, they turned it into a real song, which the original never was. it was an instrumental basically.

a lot of the songs arent written about him, they're written about others froma personal perspective, and often times the subject gets mixed. dont get too hung up on it.

We cant hold the fact that his parents could afford a decent education against him. The guy writes inspirational rockin songs that all people can relate to (drinking with friends/building stuff ect) By your argument Jimi Hendrix really shouldn't have written Voodoo Child (slight return) because he never actually chopped down that mountain with the edge of his hand.
