@OverdrivePacing LMAO! Yeah dude! Queensryche are the masters of progressive / technical metal. Tate's vocals, DeGarmo's guitar work / songwriting, and Rockenfield's drum work stand alone!
To call this song a "masterpiece" would be an understatement! I first heard this album at the age of 18 and this song is still as hauntingly beautiful now as then. The whole album is just a massive underrated MASTERWORK and years ahead of its time when released.
I have heard from Eddie Trunks Sirius show that there has been talk between DeGarmo and Tate...There is no bad blood between him and the other members. He wanted to be a pilot and does it...There is a good chance of him getting back some day \m/
I thought 'American Soldier' was a solid effort...and yes, I thought it admirable for them to write an album of songs that chronicle the various emotions, feelings, thoughts and concerns of the men and women of our military...but admittedly, since DeGarmo's departure; there was a largely downward spiral in the bulk of what QR released...I admire their tenacity to explore various musical tapestries...sure...but, it doesn't ALWAYS work...that's the difference.
Late 80's, went to see my first big concert, some band named Queensryche opening up for Ozzy. They opened up with this song, been a huge fan ever since.
U said it all guys. 25 years later and i still go back at this record for times and times again! Way beyond their era, Queensryche wrote simply history. Cant forget the acclaimed opinions from Greek Metal Hammer in every progressive metal tribute they did from 1994 up to 2004 when i stopped reading it..
If only the world could wake up from being mind controlled, exactly why us Queensryche fans from this era exist within our own level of existence!! Queensryche for life!
Is it weird that when I listen to the songs on Rage for Order, I end up pairing it with a sort of super-dramatic, live theatre performance...like a tragic ballet or something? x]
And I would argue that none of them compare in symphonic composition, songwriting, or vocals. The Ryche wrote the most mind expanding thought provoking music ever.
@NeueRegalSOS I know, Geoff Tate's voice was just amazing back in the day. I was saying that I don't know how anyone could say Geoff isn't good. You know what I mean now?
And my mate says Geoff Tate isn't a good singer. I have no idea what he's mistaken for Queensryche! Because Geoff Tate has one of the best voices on the planet!
i must agree with everybody on this one that this is the best work they did. rivalling their earlier work but still peaking in both artistic merit and musicianship. lyrics, concept, beauty art. even to this day i reach back to this one and am never ever disappointed.
There is no question that this is their best work. As stated earlier, they were so far ahead of their time. I don't think Heavy Metal was ready for the idea of a "concept album." This band never got their full just due. The writing, muscial composition, and of course the incredible lyrics of Geoff Tate was so vastly superior to the "hair nation" bands that ruled the airways. Poison, Motely Crue, and the like can't carry this band's jock strap.
Their best song. Their best record. I was fourteen when this went out. It literally blew my head. I remember a magazine here in Italy that classified Rage as the record of the year 6 month before the end of 1986....the end of that review quotes '.... still 6 months before the end of the year.... but I simply can't imagine anything better'. The reviewer, the mighty Mr.Riva, was right. And he even could refer to the decade, IMHO.
@syltryggen1 I agree...#1 They waited TOO long to put out Promised Land and then it was a letdown....#2 Losing DeGarmo put a serious hurt on the songwriting....BUT.... Rage thru Empire were spectacular examples of what Metal/Hard Rock should have been in the 80's
@TheShack2112 Yeah, without Chris they never recovered. I still go to the shows when I can just to hear the classic songs (Neue Regel, Screaming in digital, The Killing words etc.). Don't know what the band would have been with Chris today though, the songs he wrote for "the frontier" album was....maybe not my favourites. The sad thing with Queensryche today is that the members of the band are so talented but the lack of a songwriter is so obvious,
@MetalMistress888 Well, I don't know. Maybe they got to happy... ;) What I like with "Rage" is the dark feeling that I think the album has. I don´t know how big impact Neil Kernon had on the album. But I would have loved to see him produce another QR-album.
Guess most (good) bands only manage to release 2-4 really good albums with very few exceptions. In Queensryches case I think the race downhill begun when De Garmo got more into airplanes than metal...
@SgtCrom Ive never heard of Ensiferum, but the others I know and love, your just mad because everytime you hear screaming in digital, neue regal, or dream in infrared, you ears explode with an eargasm and you have to spend the next half hour wiping it up, suck my dick, Sailing!
@SgtCrom Actualy, your a fuckstick, the best albums ever are 1. Mindcrime 2. 7th son of a 7th son 3.rage for order. The best bands are 1.Queensryche 2.Iron Maiden 3.Pink Floyd or Rush 4. Mettalica
@SgtCrom no way, "The Warning" was great but I wouldnt go as far to claim its their best. But we all have our opinions right? Great taste in music though
Yep, a perfect example of Queensryche being experimental and it actually working. Not like that "Dedicated to Chaos" shit that they forced into our skulls.
Together with Screaming.., this is my favorite song from the super Rage-album. It means New Rules in german. Sheer Magic aaaaall over the place...YEAH! Shine on you crazy Queensryche
@RycheRageForOrder Ha, you're posting this comment on every Ryche page? Damn right you are, the Ryche belongs up there with the best. Maybe one day ... the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame ... they'd deserve it ... shame achievement is measured in how many albums were sold.
seems to me some heavy masonic over/under tones. great music. let's pray we never find out what it means lol. let's just be puppets without brains. fun for a while but it gets old fast when you wake up screaming in digital :)
The Ryche kicks serious ass! Nothing Pink Floyd, Rush, or Dream Theater did can compare to Chris DeGarmo's guitar work / songwriting, and Geoff Tate's vocals.
Tates' vocals and DeGarmos' understanding of symphonic orchestral music stand alone. Operation Mindcrime was the first operatic metal. Tate sings with such passion and emotion. Nothing Pink Floyd, Rush or Dream Theater did can compare to Rage For Order or Operation Mindcrime! Queensryche crushed everyone then, and now!

I agree! This song was way ahead of the times...... Queensryche was doing things that no other bands even came close to at that time. THis whole record is epic and groundbreaking. In my opinion, this is the best Queensryche album ever recorded.
@kingofhell1972 You're right. This whole record IS epic and groundbreaking. It is also WITHOUT A DOUBT the best thing that they have ever waxed !!!!! Not a weak track on it. Soundtrack to a revolution. Call it whatever you want. It will change your life if you let it. The first four records (including the ep) are indispensible in any metalheads collection.
Best album ever period just my opinion will never another one like this. Vocals, lyrics clever clever stuff this. Where the hell has the time gone I had hair like them clothes lol. Bald as an egg now two great kids bloody hell!!!!!
@emptyaie they were really phenomenal in this album, weren't they? I don't really know about anything recent, but if common experience tells me anything its that if two independent sources say that the new stuff sux --well then it probably does.
@emptyaie I agree with you sort of. I think this is "1B" and Mindcrime is "1A". Mindcrime just "sounds" a little better from a sonic perspective.....imho off course. Empire also sounds beautiful.
@Born2Rock1987 , That is the name of the song, which means New Order. Actually, Geoff Tate was born in Germany when his dad was stationed there on military duty. RYCHE ON!
the closest thing i have heard lately is a group called 'Bullet for my Valentine' but the vocals can't even compare to Geoff Tate's sheer range and power
This is one of my ALL time favorites from them!! This is when Tate had his full voice. He had this intense vocal attack that he can't do anymore. It's not just hitting high notes, it's the way he did it.
An example is right in this song.
"Poet's line in a rhyme of silence, gathered from the winter air
Warms the children's (attack) eyes they see"
It's the way he hits that part. i have always called it "letting it out" .
neue regel for all the fucking financel evil virus and those, who are prospering with the death and the growing poverty. The desaster in greece might be the beginn of
My favorite album by them, and my favorite song on this album. Try being a seventeen-year-old girl in a one-horse town and liking this kind of music back in 1987. Definitely ahead of its time.
Good lord can that dude sing! There are very few singers today that can sing like he does. Not to mention very few bands that use two guitars like they do. Most bands today have one guy play lead and the other play rhythm. These guys harmonize and play parts that interweave with each other.
What a great band ! So ahead of it's time back then. They have provided a huge influence with their "futuristic metal". And Dream Theater can say "Thank you" to them.
countless years!!! man I loved QR but after the promised land album i gave up...that was the last good album but this was so futuristic I so agree with you
@TheKillingword Tates' vocals and DeGarmos' understanding of symphonic orchestral music stand alone. Operation Mindcrime was the first operatic metal. Tate sings with such passion and emotion. Nothing Pink Floyd, Rush or Dream Theater did can compare to Rage For Order or Operation Mindcrime! Queensryche crushed everyone then, and now!
very nice on the tape. i still have mine and i also have all the old Vinnie Moore, Metallica, Dokken, and Skid Row tapes too. i know i have more than that, but i'm just pulling a blank now. :P

Born2Rock1987 1 year ago
@Born2Rock1987 , That is the name of the song, which means New Order. Actually, Geoff Tate was born in Germany when his dad was stationed there on military duty. RYCHE ON!

@lowriderbandfan I know what it means cuz I'm from Germany, too...weird title but cool song anyway :)

Queensrÿche will put hairs on your chest. True Story.

the closest thing i have heard lately is a group called 'Bullet for my Valentine' but the vocals can't even compare to Geoff Tate's sheer range and power

@GovWillKillU, Exactly! And it's here.

Neue Regel is Deutsch for New Ruling
The type that some videos have called it - Neue Regal - would mean New Shelving lol.

Queensryche on their best time....

My favorite album by them, and my favorite song on this album. Try being a seventeen-year-old girl in a one-horse town and liking this kind of music back in 1987. Definitely ahead of its time.

Non metal, just a unique rock band like Kansas and Triumph of the times, will put you in a better place in mind! couldnt ask for any better!

Good lord can that dude sing! There are very few singers today that can sing like he does. Not to mention very few bands that use two guitars like they do. Most bands today have one guy play lead and the other play rhythm. These guys harmonize and play parts that interweave with each other.

Some songs are borderline too incredible.
Rockin this now hard just like early 90's.

What a great band ! So ahead of it's time back then. They have provided a huge influence with their "futuristic metal". And Dream Theater can say "Thank you" to them.

it needs rage for order in order to establish a neue regel!!

Simple...because NOW it's all about the money and who you can screw for video on your cell phone. Oh yea, and reality TV.
Then politics meant something to the mind willing to understand it and embrace why it should be important for EVERYONE to just "get it"
