To my knowledge, and I'm no expert...very new to railfanning...is that there was a merger between the Burlington Northern RR and the Santa Fe, hence now we see BNSF instead. My neighbor works for the Union Pacific here in Portland...that info came from him
well, if the ICC had approved of the SPSF(should paint so fast lol) merger, then we would be seeing the beautiful kodachrome paint scheme with the full SPSF on the side. and a funny thing about the BNSF, the official merge date was a day after i was born, im serious
=) Short but good!! Santa Fe in it's tru scenary ..western Desert! AT LEAST this train still had 2nd generation power on it.. Thats all I care about when I go railfanning...Wide Cabs suck!
Sante fe was awsome. i recently found out it was bought by Burlington northern awhile ago forming BNSF (Burlington norther Sante fe)

i remember seeing a santa fe train in new mexico in 1994 but i was only 3. maybe this was the same train haha
