  • Ive got a wobbly pre just like you do. Ive had it for about 4 months now and I have a warranty on it. Its always bothered me but I dont know if I can get a new one :( can you?

  • that's the oreo effect right?

  • ive had mine for like 3 weeks i think and theres no gap, you should get a new one.

  • That's because yours is new.

I'm an early adopter and I have the same effect he has.

Palm has recently fixed this in the latest models.

  • I just bought one today and I have zero wobble (up and down). However, I do have a bit of side to side (oreo) motion. I have to press kinda hard to do it, so I'm not sure if I should return it. Do you have to press fairly firmly for the side to side or will it move with a shake of your phone?

  • if i hold the screen half, and shake, it will easily twist.

  • mine was like this too so i returned it for one that wasnt as bad but still very loose. these pres are made cheaply, so i moved on. too bad, i really like webos.

  • Well I don't treat my phone bad or harsh so I don't have this, but duude that sucks for you!

  • it was like this when i bought it. i assumed it was normal, until i saw other peoples pres.

  • I would have been outraged when I got that. I literally would have demanded for a new one on the spot and if they refused I would smash the phone and destroy planet earth

  • The gap on mine isn't even close to that. I hear the first production models were mostly the problem. I got mine about 3 weeks after the release right at the Sprint store. Also, check to see if yours was an early return model...some people turned in their first production models and those outlets just cleaned them up and sold them back to people because they still "worked".

  • couldn't have been a returned model, as I purchased it on the day it came out, and it was like that the day i bought it.

  • my pre is exactly the fucking same plus now today my fucking touchscreen stopp fucking responding to my touch but my phone still works they told me they would replace it...i kinda feel i made a mistake shit fuck damnnnnnnnnnnnnn mannnnnn

  • turns out the wobble and gap is caused by screws in the back that are not tight enough. You can simply remove the back cover, grab a hex screwdriver, and tighten them to your liking (or loosening).

  • anyone find this to be true and works? sure hope it does!

  • I've read articles that say only 7% of sprint stores are sold out of the Pre. Since I was on the waiting list for one for 8 weeks, I'm calling bull on that. There are definitely shortages, especially in the midwest and south.

  • Mine is actually the opposite. It is so tight that I can't open it easily, sometimes I have to try a couple of times before I can slide it open.

Damn it Palm get your act together.

  • i have the same wobbling, but your gap pis absurd, return that phone.

  • Dude it's so the phone deosn't get scratched when the potrait keyboard slides out

  • 90% of these phones have that gap, and have a loose slider. Wouldn't it be evident that the ones that are tight might actually be the defective ones. The play in the slider is probably to keep the screen from bleeding.

  • the gap actually isent normal some people gaps r so severe that wen they slide the phone it gets caught in the railing

  • okay, I think I will exchange it on Monday. I will definitely post a response to this video if it's better.

  • yea its ur fault, exchange it still under 30 days just make up some excuse, i intenionally try to get dead pixel, i had one dead pixel and now i got like 10 im returning it next week

  • WTF did you do to it? No Pre ive ever seen came like that. You prolly punt kicked it

  • thats a pretty huge fucking gap man....mines nothing like that

  • Bahaha! C'mon, this phone was definetely dropped or you had some issues removing a case from it leading to this. I have seen tons of Pres here at work and I own 4 in my family and none are this bad. Nice try!

  • I assure you I did not drop it, or mess with it in any way. I have babied my pre. Honestly, I don't even know how dropping it would make it loose like this. it's as if there is something stuck in there, which the top is pivoting on.

I'm not saying my pre is standard, in fact, it appears that my pre is a weird exception, and I am going to try exchanging it later.

  • wow at build quality

  • I have a slight wobble and they aren't exchanging it so I will just deal..

  • Pomokey, that is exactly how mine looks. I don't know but it seems to get worse, I just hope it doesnt get to the point of complete seperation. :S let us know if you end up switching it out

  • That is an enormous gap - I would demand a replacement ASAP.

  • Duude you F**ed it up!! I've had mine for weeks now and it's completely flush...no gap at all !!! You should try to exchange it..and take better care!!

  • it was actually like that the first day I took it home.

  • I actually have the exact same issue as you.

I went to the store to see if at least the tech could fix it without exchanging it. The sprint store guy actually told me that there is no way to fix it, nor can it be exchanged. He said that Palm says that this is normal for the device even if its brand new. My wife's week-old pre is not that way at all.

BUT if its under 30 days of receipt you should be able to exchange it assuming there are exchange units.

    Keep us posted.

  • Yeah I agree... you should return that...

  • wow you need to return that. My pre has no gap or wobble. Maybe you unclipped it off the track or something. But something is deffinatley up.
