that's good info. i wish i could grind that into my family's head about pc repair. i've found it's better to do my own repairs (and their's 9/10 of the time). be it auto or pc. if you look at it as having a bad part rather an a whole system being down, you'll find hardware repairs are overly simple. i think it would be a good idea for him (i don't do videos) to make a video on trouble shooting hardware failures.

i fix pc for like $50. i also do it right and will prove a part needs replacing befor i ask for money to buy a new part by doing a demonstration .all every store rips people off lets thick just too look at the pc its like 100-200 $ thats a rip the part if there is one needed to fix the problem cost less than them just looking at it.
Your story mimicks ours, we fix peoples computers years ago and they just now discovered that we're no longer the IT dept for Frederick Memorial Hospital but now we're a computer store in West Frederick Maryland
hey im a high school student right now and i want to be a computer technician when i graduate high school. i was just wondering where would i would? like what company? store? thank you for your help :)
lol- My brother is my comp tech . until i started educating my self now i do my own tecking for my self of ask him Questions then i do my self :) So much info out there and i always google every thing to find answers and have made my own comp book for reference, for later use ( love puzzles and the inside a comp , its one big puzzle)
Didn't sell Packard Bells? What? I used to have a Packard Bell computer, and nothing ever, EVER, went wrong with it. It lasted forever until I deliberately destroyed it.
I find local technicians to be more reliable, I remember a few years ago my computer got broken and since I bought it from bestuby, i went there and they had it for like 3 months. No computer for 3 months, and now that I have average experience I realize that the problem was simpler than It was. The whole thing was free but I hated it anyway, horrible service. As for locals, I've got it back in a few hours for small and big problems
I do computer repair mostly for friends. Anytime a part is faulty I always give them the old part back. You should always request the old parts from them.
In the Uk, stores like PCWorld charge £25 (that's about $50 - depending on the exchange rate at the time) to install USB devices and drivers. This is so sick it is not even funny...totally rip-off.

I remember Packard Smells. Took me about 2 hours to figure out how to crash Kidspace so I could get to the Windows 3.1 desktop.
