@michielterpelle It's difficult to really say. When you take four strings and write music for it you compete with composers 100 years ago that effectively mastered the medium. For example you can't really compare this to something like Shostakovich, which was made in mind with four strings. It's not fair to compare this to Shostakovich, or any composer, because their music would likely sound terrible in the modern pop format.

As a modern composer, Lady Gaga does well with her limitations.

@Jubedube Who is to say that some music is better because it's a piece that was composed for those instruments? If you look at a song and you think you can make it better by making it into a string quartet, I don't think you are automaticly worse compared to classical composers. Something new and beautiful can come out of it. Whether it's more enjoyable (compared to the original or a classical piece) is up to you and me. The best thing about music is that you can't explain why it feels so good!
