@tezumak4 just cause hes gonna feel like crap doesnt mean there is high brain trauma... there is a low possibility of traumatic head injury that would cause extensive damage and wouild most likely be permanent. there will be none or practically none when they say low. and he most likely would not feel that bad the next morning..
The only thing that is kind of scary about this video is how the entire vehicle seems to bounce into the air after the crash. It most likely would flip over in a higher speed crash, or if it was hit by another car. I haven't seen this happening in many other crash test videos. Could be the Xterra's higher center of gravity?
Wish I could post pics of my wreck. 60-70mph collision in a 2007 Xterra - walked away with nothing more than bruises. The front end was obliterated, but there was hardly any damage behind the front wheels.
I can attest to its safety - this vehicle (and seat belt) most likely saved my life.
my hubby and i got run off the road by a semi in texas one night and smashed into a very solid wall. None of us were injured and our daughter was in her carseat in the backseat. We still have our 2007 XTerra and i would DEFINITELY buy another. all vehicles have risks but i can vouch for the newer xterras. sturdy and reliable. the front end of our XTerra was completely destroyed when we hit the wall but the vehicle did its job and we were protected and uninjured.
no car is really safe all the time, it all depends on the accident. my friend had a 2006 xterra, and was in an accident when a guy driving in the opposite direction (both were going about 55 mph), he lost control and hit her at an angle between the front and driver side, both cars were totally smashed, hers flipped, his caught on fire. he died instantly, they pryed her out and she died at the hospital. so these things do help show safety if that situation happens, but other accidents happen too
you know. i totally get where your coming from. i also totally understand that not all crashes are the same. i am very sorry to hear that about your friend. this test is only showing the safety of this car if another Xterra or similiar in weight vehicle collides with it at 40 mph. your friend was in a collision with an equal force of a 110 mph collison. But compared to other vehicles, it is a little safer.
@pattycarljackson Wow really? Thanks for giving us that insight into modern glass technology. Its good to know most "windowes" don't break anymore. Here I am thinking the tempered glass thats used in cars today were designed to break when in fact they are designed to not break. Where keyboard cat when you need him?
I am assuming you mean rich and that is far from the truth. I am not even close to ever dreaming about being rich or even knowing anyone who is rich and I just bought an 08 with 0 miles on it it was only 22.000
This crash test is certainly one of the best I have seen! EXTREMELY impressive. If there was a bonus rating, an "Excellent", this would certainly recieve it!
wait until you get shcrockworks bumper on it then hit something.

@frontierdriver28 Could indicate that the front is really solid but it won't absorb the forces going against you when you crash very well..

You can't plan for infinite safety. But some cars are safer than others. Cars are safer than they used to be.
