I agree with you on many points, but better camera and platforming; I think not. I constantly found myself centering the camera, cuz the damned thing had a mind of its' own. The platforming goes right back to the camera, plus jumping is kinda weird (the camera would sometimes change position during a jump). I forgot exactly how it happened, but it came about that the game wouldn't allow me to progress because I did the explosive puzzle the wrong way. Nevertheless it deserved a 8/10.

good review but a little tip: some of us watch the review because we haven't played the game yet and want to see what it's like and if it's worth playing. so at least put a spoiler warning and don't show the final boss on your next videos.

I do full in depth reviews and offer view points on the entire game, not just 1st few hrs like most reviewers. Which I don't see as reviews any way they are 1st Impression videos or Preview videos not reviews. Cause you can't review a game,book,product properly, unless you understand it fully. I have no problem adding a spoiler warning before my review.

no, of course you can't fully review the game if you haven't completed it (possibly more than once). If you're writing a review you just need to play the whole thing, but that doesn't mean you need to show the ending. i really appreciate that you offer viewpoints of the full game, but you could avoid showing the last hour of gameplay for example, since some of us haven't even played it and don't want to be spoiled.

And as for the 4th missing character he actually did make it into the game “Coller the hunter”, both 64 and LoD, but it would take me a couple of pages to explain it, so if your curious ask me about it and I’ll send you the info. For the record however congratulations, you did a great job with this one, you reviewed the game for what it was and reviewed fully, with detailed, in a correct manner (which is something rare in Youtube now a days),

@kNIGHTWING01 I can tell your hardcore for this one, (alot of us actually) because when you mentioned the voice casting was removed, that was one of the first things I noticed when I played Carrie and Reinhards quest, but this review was two years ago, how does this one hold up against Lords of Shadow?, (I saw the first hour on youtube and was dissapointed because it was nothing but bad story and stolen gameplay), but maybe I was missing something

Something I took noticed you said that I should point out, both Vampire Killer (or so they say) and bloddy tears do make it into the game but partially, I heard that VK plays at the beginning of the Foggy lake stage (I never put them together but mentioned it so every one has a say, and you cleary hear BT twice in two different cut scenes

Well I don’t think CV 64 is a bad game because of it s own fault, it was simply unfinished, you yourself don’t speak of it as a bad game, now this is just opinion and not fact, the best 3D CV to date would actually be Lamment of Innocence, but LoD runs a strong second,,

When I first heard that this was just a remake of the first N64 game, I was a bit skeptical since I already had the first one and beaten it. But this review has shown me that it is MUCH more than a remake. Thanks kNIGHTWING. I deffinantly buying this game now!

I completely agree with this review, but strangely enough I felt the platforming was much more difficult in the tower of execution than the clock tower. The clock tower was alot more epic in this game than cv 64 aswell, where it was just a few rooms. But I wish they'd release a game like this rather than LOS, imo best 3d platformer ive played.

I always feel nostalgic about this game.

I saw it when I was like 9 and I played n64 castlevania as my first REAL game next to doom and I liked it. I'm nuts.

castlevania is just so great and I always feel great when I see the games or listen to the music.

too bad lords of shadow isn't really a castelvania game because originally the "castlevania" part wasn't supposed to be in the title.

Thank you for your excellent review of Legacy of Darkness! I've been playing Castlevania 64 and Legacy of Darkness since I was in kindergarten and here I am about to graduate high school. They both remain my favorite castlevania games of all time, and I'd say my favorite N64 games of all time. I totally agree with everything you had to say about this game. It's truly a gem!

No problem, my only fish is this video got more attention over the yrs. Im still doing all I can to talk to Konami, to get this game released on the Wii's Virtual Console. I think maybe they are just waiting for the right opportunity to re release it.

@kNIGHTWING01 That would be the best, if they did re-release it. In my opinion, the Castlevania movie should be completely based off of this game, using Cornell, Rinehardt (if that's how you spell it), and Carrie within the story.

At the nitro part there is an alternate way to pass the gears with taking any damage. When you get to the gears that are intersecting each other, go to the gear on the left and you'll see an opening that allow you an easier way to the locations of where you want to place the nitro.

no i dont think they added the poison in the water because they were to lazy to animate some1 swim its just that u were never able to swim in a castlevania game so why change it ?

I'd give anything for someone to pick this game up and remake it in next gen glory. Great review. The Castlevania fans that played all the way thru this game loved it. The only ones who bashed it were the ones who stopped playing after the first or second stage. Highly underrated.

Great review! i love these games i miss the violin theme in legacy of darkness these games are better than the ps2 games in curse of darkness all you do is advance and fight and in c64 and LOD there is puzzle solving places to explore.
