  • ...shut the door ,cut the light...you want again see no-thing tonight than the back of your skull...

  • To all who are totally uninterested: a dylan song.

  • @kjallesoft No mate you're wrong it was written by John Simon and Robbie Robertson.

  • Well Pete cox was good for what he sang originally, but doesnt hold a torch to chris thompson !!!

  • It's a myth, GREAT!

  • que du bon merci

  • Chris Thompson best

  • Pure class. Gotta love Slash's dad on guitar as well

  • helemaal te gek

  • Einfach nur................Geil.

  • A true Bob Dylan song!

    A march to freedom and..YOU!

  • I was really sad for being compelled by my parents to miss this concert (I was scarcely fifteen then). I loved them since their Watch. This was one of my first great musical events in my life. I could say that all this album (Watch) is set in an infinetely high level. Since good music had already been dying at that period, I would say that this was one of the last signs of a time in which there had been still MUSIC.

  • sau geil man .....gutes lied als die gespielt haben war ich noch nich auf der welt....BJ 1995...lol...liebe oldies und classic rock..:)

  • This is Chris Thompson singing......

  • Took this one up as my personal "theme" song 20+ years ago, 'cause it kinda described life for me back then, and still holds that link. Thanks for posting.

  • love the keyboard around 3:10

  • This was an awesome concert. I was there close to the podium!

    They were awesome!

  • RIP Steve Waller

  • Chris thomson i think :)

  • l like the recorded version better but its good to be live

  • Chris Thompson certainly has a set of pipes. Without Chris, is kind of like Robin Trower without James Dewar. Just not the same.

  • hello there.. can anyone tell me the name of this singer ? is he the original-singer, or did they change very often ?? later videos show another singer.

    nice weekend at everybody !!

  • This singer is Chris Thompson who sang this on their album Watch. Mick Rogers was the singer on the first few albums and then Thompson took over. Thompson left and they had some guest singers before replacing him with Noel McCalla. McCalla left recently and was replaced by Peter Cox.

  • thanks, scc1962 for this quick information. that really helped me a lot. have a nice day !!!

    basti

  • Chris Thompson is definately the best singer for this band.

  • @SCC1962 i think it was either Paul Jones or Mike d'Abo if its the later chances r its mike

  • @SCC1962

hi, can you say me on which album is the STUDIO VERSION of DAVYS ON THE ROAD AGAIN with the hard PIANO SOLO? i cant find it... that would be VERY cool ;)

  • @SCC1962 Chris Thompson was Manfred's best lead vocal. Didn't he sing on all albums during the Bronze years?

  • Chris Thompson was this singer, he was also the lead vocalist on Jeff Wayn'e;s concept album War of the Worlds and sung most of the album except for the single Forever Autumn which was sung by Justin Haywood of the Moody Blues. Former singers with Manfred Mann were Mike D'Abo and Paul Jones, that was in the 1960's!

  • @bustybasti09.I don't know his name but he was the original sinnger with the Earth band.

  • Live it´s best !

  • This one is my favourite Manfred Mann track!.

  • the ONLY decent thing to come out of white South Africa.

  • FUKKIN AWESOME - nuff sed....

  • Well said young Sir

  • This is one of the best songs ever...

  • when i used to hear this music i didn`t ever imagine that this would be one of the best times i ever had !!!!

  • Who's Davy anyway?

  • David Bowie

  • is true, very good minimoog solo!! ; perhaps the anthonomasian rock progressive band!

  • Hey cool, do you remember the ladies you´ve been dancing with to this song?

    mmmmmh

    I do

    :-)

  • it was time to blast music..

  • HAMMER !!! The good old times....

  • I'm sure Steve Howe's comments were apocalyptic, but are we supposed to know who he is?

  • Ich bin Jahrgang 1970 und mit MMEB aufgewachsen..Dank meiner Geschwister..diese Band war und ist einfach genial. Sie sind ein Meilenstein in der Musikgeschichte

  • I found out about the Earth Band back when I was in College in the 1970's. This song has always been one of my favorites (see my screen name)...anyway, I always thought the group did some really fantastic songs.

  • I transferred this onto my Sargeant who was one of the best people I ever met.. You just had to hold him back if a prisoner spat at him or cursed at him.. Or was an arrested person. Davy would slap them if they got out of line, but we, as the arresting officers, had to explain and justify any injuiries on the defendant at court.. It was always, "Did you see him kick me before I punched him?" Truth be told, answer was always an honest "Yes."now, Davy wouldn't be happy with how it's gone...

  • I don't really understand what your comments have to do with this clip. Please explain.

  • Well, he was serving under a seargeant called Davy. That davie had a bad habit of hurting prisoners he was to arresst. BWF Sabian lied frequently before court to explain injuries - wht it has to do with the song - Idon't know - they were both called Davie - and probably both have a kind of un uncertain future. I'd rather pity BFW Sabian for for his misconceptions than his davie for being what he was. So that doesnt' match the song'l lyrics :-)

  • die orgel is einfach geil

  • Brilliant Live Performance

  • One of the best performance ever by M.M.E.B. Never get tired of listening to Watch!! Thanks from Denmark!!

  • legendary band !

  • Die haben wir damals rauf und runter gespielt echt klasse!

  • Comment removed

  • one of the famost hammond organ sounds!

  • Mannfred mann play live 8.o8.2009 in Sand am Main

  • 10 out of 10!

  • What a fabulous song!

  • Fantastic song by a fantastic band.

  • Ohhh, great! I was there!!! Thanks!

  • What a voice......that is pure.

  • Tried to find this concert online but could only find a VHS copy for about 70 dollars. Would love to get this on DVD.

  • Chris Slade - kick ass SEXY drummer!!!!

  • Chris Thompson - kick ass vocals!

  • what a wonderful song... :)

  • Najs.. :)

    Love it <3

  • These dudes put all they had into doing what they did. And they did it so much they didn't have time to shave. Hence the abundant facial hair on the band members. Ha Ha Ha.

  • LOL too funny !

  • loved the beards - bring it back!

  • great music!

  • manfred mann is one of the best rock band, period.

  • YEAH BABY!!! One of my all time favourites !!

  • The lead guitarist at this time was Steve Waller who was a true genius and is greatly missed!

  • 'Watch' was a magnificent album as was 'Angel Station'. Which one was 'Blinded by the Light' on? Can't remember

  • 'The Roaring Silence'

  • Yes. Of course. Another brilliant album. Thanks for jogging my fading memory

  • Who's the vocalist at this time?!?

  • It's Chris Thompson

  • Yeah, Chris Thompson. He was also the voice of 'Thunderchild' on Jeff Waynes' War Of The Worlds :-)

  • jesus , couldn't have kept it either simple or in key.. Another Spinal Tap video.. Picking up taxis on the radio mikes.

  • Hahaha! Take a close watch to 4:01 !

  • I have done but wasn't sure what I was meant to be looking out for?!? :s

  • Ecstatic fan....

  • YES, haven't heard them for over 20 years! They still ROCK!!!

  • Wow! Great performance. Nice video too

  • it blows me away ...great song

  • Yeah,great song.Thanks for posting!!!

  • anybody remember all through the 80s great band this was when music was good times have changed, todays music has no soul or no good guitar solos haha

  • indeed. it was truly the golden age of music. and chaos. that was more in the 60's and 70's though.

  • Steve Howe once told me, there would be no music due to TV, computers, etc. They take away your imagination. I believe him. MTV, VH-1, etc... think about it. Electronics take your soul, and that's where music comes from.

  • Oh, Manfred is God of the Minimoog!

has been all this live released on DVD?

  • settle a argument what year?

  • wow what memories cheers.

  • MMEB is the best band in the history of music!

  • Chris Thompson's voice is a good as ever, but where was Colin Pattenden?

  • the whole budapest concert comes out on dvd in a few days. It is said to have a much better quality than all other versions that are around. there are also some extra tracks. enjoy!

  • I would love to get this on DVD, is it out yet ?

  • Yes you can get it thro their website

  • However I've just remembered that this song isn't on the Budapest DVD :-(

    Worth getting anyway

  • Hellow, cud u pls help me find their album /CD/DVD ..where they have the song 'Marthas Madman' (something like that?!) listed/added ?

I am doing this for an uncle..He s been searching the whole city for one on only this song..

  • hi. "martha's madman" is on MMEB's 1978 album "watch". you can order it through manfred mann's website or through amazon.

also recommended: 1979's follow-up "angel station". their song "you are - i am" refers back to "martha". great album!

  • This is probably my favourite ever MMEB song, if you can still get hold of the album "Watch" it's worth it.

  • prachtig !!!!

  • I played minimoog and Roland jx8P and MM was my hero. His fingerwork is extremely clomsy, but his effects and chords are world class.

  • Manfred Mann and Manfred Mann's Earth Band's line up has chopped and changed over the years. The one thing that remains constant is the superb quality of their live Music.Pure talent and as hj38 says..a classic act.

  • classic!

  • the best ever , my life when i was 9 to 40 and now, yepp sill ever.

  • he is the best of all time and what a voice of chris thompson

  • fuck anybody who isn't moved by this shit

  • <33

  • everyone remembers blined by the light, by far this and alot of thier other stuff is much better

  • Manfred Mann... best keyboarder ever??

    i think so =D

  • thats funny, i have the same memory - me playing with star wars figures with this song on the radio

  • If i remember right, wasn't this song a tribute to David bowie ?

  • HAHA!!this reminds me of when i was 8 playing with my Star Wars figures with this on the radio! Being a kid in the 70's was fantastic!

  • The keyboard work is out of this world!!!

    Great song too.
